Merrimack 5, Nashua U11 4

The Nashua Blast U11 girls lacrosse team lost a close game to Merrimack, 5-4. Jenna Tingley had two goals, Olivia Koutsos and Gabrielle Masseur each added one. The defense was led by Ashley Jolicoeur, Kristen Rourke and Madison Owen. Payson Mooso, Alexia Keely, Kristen McIntire and Zoe Fillebrown also played well, while goalies Julia Gagnon and Corita Chartier had several saves in net.

BOYS LACROSSE

Nashua Blast U13C 9, Exeter U13C 3

The Blast put together a solid effort against Exeter, both offensively and defensively, improving their record to 4-0 on the season.

Nashua broke open a tie game in the second quarter scoring three unanswered goals. Max Serra tallied three goals on the day, while Cam Rourke scored twice. Max Lasala contributed with a solid all around game with two assists. Riley Morse (one assist), Patrick Shah, Andrew Lacroix and Joe Callahan all scored single goals for the Blast.  Jared Condon, Zachary Link, Collin Leary, Noah Doherty, Keean Kharazi and Max Fay all did a good job of helping Nashua maintain persistent offensive pressure by coming up with several ground balls and utilizing quick ball movement.  

Defensemen Jacob Farrar, Caden Daigle and Aaron DeCarteret deflected Exeter goals and set the pace for Colin Morrow, Tyler Gouveia and Tyler Joles, harassing the Exeter attack in front of goalies Collin Leary (seven saves) and Dakota Lane (four saves), who both stood tall in the net.

Nashua Blast U13C 5, John Stark U13C 5

The Blast U13C boys remained undefeated, facing their toughest competition of the season from an also undefeated John Stark squad.

Despite falling behind in the first half 4-1, the Blast rallied in the second half with a spirited effort. Goalies Collin Leary (seven saves) and Dakota Lane (six saves) both stood tall in the net, making many crucial saves to keep the Blast in the game.

Max Serra and Riley Morse both scored a pair of goals with Jacob Farrar assisting on one. Patrick Sullivan tallied the other goal for the Blast.

Nashua Blast U11 12, Amherst 0

The Nashua Blast U11 gave all their moms a great Mother’s Day surprise by shutting out the Amherst U11 team 12-0. Ryan Fitzerald played three strong quarters in goal with Tyler DuBien adding a solid fourth quarter for the shutout.

Todd Redman added the most fuel to the Blast scoring machine with sixgoals. Kyle Fisher added two more with Alex Moody, Nathan Newton, Zach Clancy and Colin Manning each adding a goal. Joey Paige and Brenden Martin led in assists.

STREET HOCKEY

Nashua Catholic tops Elm St.-Fairgrounds

In Nashua Police Athletic League middle school action at the Boys and Girls Club outdoor street hockey rink, Nick Lang and Phil Tausky provided scoring punch to help the Nashua Catholic team top a combined Elm St.-Fairgrounds team.

Taylor Robinson and Bryan Connolly were the offensive standouts for the E-F team, while goalie Brandon Rand had 13 saves in defeat.

Flames win U10 state championship

The New Hampshire Flames U10 girls basketball team went undefeated to win the State AAU Basketball Championship last weekend and will be traveling to Orlando, Fla. to represent the Granite State in the National Tournament.

Members of the championship team – coached by Paul D’Amico and Dave Nicknair – are Kaitlyn Todd, Amanda D’Amico, Addie Lacey, Marissa Sweeney, Megan Donovan, Brianne Nordengren, Eireann Kolden, Maggie Carter, Jillian Rabasco, Sidney Lessard, Julia Levesque and Kara Mansfield.

MAJORS

Giants 13, Royals 2

The Giants’ offense was active early and received big games from Owen Shea (three hits), Brian Barrows (two hits), and CJ Mellen (two hits). Also collecting hits were Riley Bourque, Ryan Penkala and Nick Quadros. Defensively, Quadros had a solid game at second base. The Giants received solid pitching from Jason Fox, Mellen and Penkala, who combined for 13 strikeouts. The Royals received a big game from Ryan Szczygielski who went 2 for 3 at the plate and pitched two solid innings (four strikeouts). Also playing well were Owen Amigo, Luke Anzel and Mike Fournier. The Royals also received solid pitching from Stevie Signorello, Amigo and Matt Savoia.

A’s 10, Orioles 3

The Athletics beat the Orioles with good pitching and timely hitting. Brian Toupin led the offense with two doubles and two runs scored.

Chad Olivieri started and went four innings, striking out 10 and allowing two hits. Mike Fuller and Patrick McDonnell each pitched a solid inning. For the Orioles, Keenan Dwyer started and pitched two innings, walking one and striking out two. Cam Stockman struck out two in two innings of work, and Nick Perkins notched two K’s in his inning of work. Offensively, Trevor Hult and Christian Lowell had the Orioles hits. For the A’s Olivieri, Nathan Fallon, Fuller, Tyler North and Ryan North had hits. Anthony Martin was once again a standout defensively, while Chad Hult was solid behind the plate.

Rockies 8, Phillies 6

The Rockies’ offense received big nights from Mayur Patel (RBI double), Alec Marshall (double), Nick Koch (three RBIs) and Ben Seegel. On the mound, the Rockies received solid performances from Collin Morrow, Cameron Paquette, Carter Cormier, Matt Lawyer and Seegel.

The Phillies offense was led by Zach Cunningham (2 for 2) and Jake Derusha. The Phillies’ pitchers included Chris Fischer and Cunningham.

AAA

Cardinals 13, Giants 7

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on hits from Ben Morin and Chris Haley (double). Devin Gates pitched well for the Cardinals, striking out three batters. The Cardinals offense came alive again in the third inning, scoring five runs, behind a great hit from Austin Long.

The Giants responded with seven runs in the fourth inning. The Giants’ offense was led by Spencer Dunand, Stephen Mclendon, Seth Bridge, Miles Johnson and Braden McDonald. Defensively, Kevin Barrows made the defensive play of the game.

A’s 12, Blue Jays 10

The A’s and Blue Jays played an exciting game, with both offenses active all evening. The A’s offense received big games from Pranav Prabhala, Kevin Morris, Matt Caplan, Joey Early and Roe Hendrick. The Blue Jays received offense from Ryan Vermette (double), Zach Wilson, Tyler Linscott and Anen Kennedy.

Rockies 13, Astros 1

The Rockies improved to .500 with a victory over the Astros. Harper Niven and Clayton Medling provided strong pitching for the Rockies, while Vincent Priore pitched well for the Astros.

MINORS

Cardinals vs. A’s

The A’s offense was led by John Sullivan and Jack Vogel, while the Cardinals’ Rajit Khanna hit a double. Both teams played great defense. Justin Mushrow, Rajit Khanna and Sam Malignaggi each pitched well.

Braves 7, NW Orioles 4

Chris Cruz hit a game winning three-run home run in the fifth inning that broke a 4-4 tie, giving the Braves their third win of the season. Timmy Brown had an all-around solid game with a double, RBI and two runs scored. Gavin Pelletier was on base three times, scoring once and also driving home another run. Jacob Burbank was the winning pitcher, going four innings and striking out nine. Shawn Boudreau contributed on the defensive side with a flawless game at second and shortstop.

Braves 11, Cubs 1

Mike Osgood and Larry Lassiter combined to toss a no-hitter and limit the Cubs to one unearned run on the day. Jacob Burbank led the offense with a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored. Chris Cruz had a pair of singles and scored twice while Osgood also scored twice. Gavin Pelletier hit his first home run of the season and also scored twice. Shawn Boudreau also reached base three times, scoring once.

Braves 18, Orioles 1

Max Osgood had three hits (double) and also drove in three runs to spark the Braves’ offense. Jacob Burbank drove in four runs with a pair of hits, including his fourth home run of the season. Chris Cruz added his second home run of the season while scoring three times. Mike Osgood (three runs) and Brett Roy (two runs) did an excellent job of getting on base. Rocco Restalli reached base twice including his first hit of the year. Gavin Pelletier pitched three scoreless innings for the Braves. Tyler O’Bryan scored the run for the Orioles.

Braves 12, NW Braves 2

In a battle of the Braves, where both teams were unbeaten coming into the game, the NW Braves jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but the West Braves rallied back in a big way to put up 12 unanswered runs to secure the victory. Chris Cruz (four RBIs) was the offensive star with a two-run home run that put the West Braves into the lead for good.

Mike Pelletier had a pair of hits on the day also scoring a pair of runs and started the key two-out rally that put the team ahead. Timmy Brown doubled and drove in three runs, while Brett Roy also knocked in two runs. Gavin Pelletier had two hits and scored twice and Zach Bodwell also scored a run for the winners. Jacob Burbank picked up the win striking out eight batters in four innings of work.
