BOYS LACROSSE

Nashua Blast U13C 13, Hampton U13C 5

The Nashua Blast U13C boys won their third game of the season against Bedford raising their record to 3-0. The Blast set an aggressive tone on offense and maintained that throughout the game. Riley Morse paced the attack with five goals, while Max Serra netted four with an assist. With a face-off win, Collin Leary sped down the sideline for another Blast goal. Cam Rourke chipped in with two goals and one assist and Patrick Sullivan had two assists. Max Lasala also scored his first goal of the season.

Attackmen Noah Doherty, Andrew Lacroix and Zachary Link moved the ball well on the offensive end. Defensemen Jacob Farrer, Caden Daigle, Colin Malone, Tyler Gouveia and Tyler Joles helped keep Bedford from getting clean shots at the Nashua goal. Goalie Dakota Lane did a good job making three saves.

Nashua Blast U11 11, Wolfeboro 5

Led by the hat trick of Ryan Fitzgerald, the Nashua Blast U11 beat Wolfeboro 11-5 at home.

Troy Bottari and Zach Clancy chipped in with two goals each, while Alex Bozek, Kyle Fisher, Nate Newton and Doug Barker each added one goal. Tyler DuBien led the defensive stance.

Nashua Blast U11 11, Londonderry 0

Led by the three-goal, two-assist effort of Todd Redman the Nashua Blast U11 team traveled to Londonderry and picked up an 11-0 win over the Huskies.

Alex Bozek scored two and helped on another, while Kyle Fisher, Owen Mooso, Doug Barker, Colin Manning, Tyler DuBien and Zachary Clancy chipped in with one goal each.

Fisher and Dylan Terenzoni each had one assist.

Goalies Ryan Fitzgerald and Alex Moody shared the shutout while also adding an assist each. Barker, Manning and DuBien contributed solid defensive play for the Blast.

GYMNASTICS

Mack solid at Region 6 All-Star Meet

Nashua’s Gabie Mack competed at the Region 6 All-Star Meet for Phantom Gymnastics out of Hampstead last week.

Mack earned an 8.55 with a 9.5 start for 17th place in the balance beam. She bounce right back and shot to the top with a third-place score of 9.25 on the floor.

Mack then took to the vault, where she was flying high but over-rotated. Her score of 8.55 was still good enough for 11th overall. On the uneven bars, Mack earned an 8.7 for 13th, to finish the day 15th overall in All-Around with a final total of 35.05.

NEGTC Prep-Op at Tune-up Meet

New England Gymnastics Training Center of Hudson Prep-Op Teams competed in the Tune-up Meet that was held in Hampstead on April 18. Many gymnasts took home top place medals and ribbons for individual events and top places for All-Around awards. NEGTC coaches, parents and friends are very proud of all the gymnasts.

Prep-Op Novice Child Division

Helen Smith, Hudson placed 1st with an all around score of 35.250. She received a 8.95 on Vault, (2nd) 9.45 on Bars (2nd) 8.8 on Beam (1st) 8.05 on Floor.

Kaelyn Gagnon, Hudson placed 4th with an all around score of 35.000. She received a 8.65 on Vault, (5th) 9.25 on Bars(4th) 8.75 Beam (2nd ) 8.3 on Floor

Seana Kelly, Derry placed 5th with an all around score of 34.900. She received a 9.0 on Vault (1st) 9.05 on Bars, 8.55 on Beam (5th) 8.8 on Floor.

Brooke Williams, Bedford finished with an all around score of 33.700. She received a 8.575 on Vault, 9.225 on Bars( 5th ) 7.8 on Beam, 8.10 on Floor.

Julia Martin, Auburn finished with an all around score of 32.625. She received a 8.65 on Vault, 9.525 on Bars (1st) 6.8 on Beam, 7.65 on Floor.

Prep-Op Novice Jr. Division

Rachael Lavalle, Pelham placed 8th with an all around score of 36.450. She received a 9.35 on Vault (4th) 9.45 on Bars (8th) 9.05 on Beam(4th ) 8.6 on Floor (9th)

Julia Sprague, Derry finished with an all around score of 34.325. She received a 9.225 on Vault (7th) 9.35 on Bars( 10th) 8.10 on Beam, 7.65 on Floor.

Kelsey Allen, Derry finished with an all around score of 34.025. She received a 8.35 on Vault, 9.25 on Bars, 8.575 on Beam 7.85 on Floor.

Prep-Op Novice SR. Division

Valentina Vaitones, Derry finished with an all around score of 35.175 . She received a 9.15 on Vault, 9.425 on Bars, (4th) 8.35 on Beam, 8.25 on Floor.

Prep-Op Intermediate Jr. Division

Kaleigh Whitnell, Litchfield finished with an all around score of 32.000. She received a 8.25 on Vault, 8.6 on Bars (10th), 6.6 on Beam, 8.55 on Floor (9th)

Prep-Op Intermediate, Sr. Division

Jessica Wambsganss, Hudson finished with an all around score of 25.300. She received a on .1 Vault, 9.05 on Bars,(4th) 8.15 on Beam,(7th) .

Prep-Op Advanced, Jr. Division

Megan Lacasse, Litchfield, placed 1st with an All Around score of 36.725. She received a 9.175 on Vault (1st ) 9.25 on Bars (3rd ) 9.20 on Beam (1st) 9.15 on Floor (1st )

Mariska Feenstra, Londonderry, placed (4th) with an All Around score of 35.100. She received a 9.1 on Vault(3rd ) 9.1 on Bars,(4th) 7.9 on Beam, 9.0 Floor.(2nd)

Katlyn Maloney, Nashua finished with an All Around score of 34.950, She received a

9.125 on Vault (2nd) 9.275 on Bars (2nd) 8.65 on Beam (4th ) 7.9 on Floor.

BASEBALL

Pennichuck 11, Elm Street 5

Pennichuck scored 11 runs on 12 hits, led by the bats of Jake Butler (RBI double), Brendan Martin (two hits, two runs), Shayne Seidl (two hits, two RBIs) and Ryan Mateo (three runs, three RBIs).

Connor McBride, Brennan Kastens and Tim Paige (three hits) also chipped in offensively for Pennichuck.

Elm Street collected seven hits as a team with Jake Latham scoring twice and Tommy Hyland adding a big hit and doing a stellar job behind the plate in defeat.

Pennichuck also squared off with Fairgrounds Middle School. The Pennichuck pitching of Zach Smith (four innings) and Martin (three innings) combined on a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Seidl (two hits, one run), Martin (two hits, two RBIs, five steals) paced the offense, while and Mateo and Butler led the defense.

Cam Cox led Fairgrounds with four strong innings on the hill, during which he allowed just one hit.

NH Grizzlies sweep Concord Cannons

The New Hampshire Grizzlies U14 team swept a doubleheader against the Concord Cannons, 14-9 and 2-1.

Litchfield’s Vinny Bucci earned the Game 1 win on the hill, with some offensive help from Chris Gamble (3 for 3), fellow Litchfield resident Jackson Musco (2 for 3) and Ty Mezquita (2 for 3).

Garrett Jewell earned the win in Game 2, allowing just two hits over seven innings.

All of the offense came from Paul Karamourtopoulos (2 for 2), Jewell (2 for 3) and Bucci (1 for 3, RBI).

MAJORS

Rockies 7, A’s 6

The Rockies received solid pitching from Ben Seegel and Matt Laywer, who combined for eight strikeouts. Offensively, the Rockies had big games from Carter Cormier (double), Nick Koch, Alec Juknievich and Anthony Yan.

Cam Paquette made a tremendous play defensively in the outfield. The A’s received their offense from Chad Olivieri, Brian Toupin and Rohan Patel. For the A’s, Michael Fuller and Patrick McDonnell pitched and combined for 10 strikeouts.

Royals 5, Rockies 1

The Royals defeated the Rockies behind the offense of Steve Signorello, Alex Amigo, Nick Koch and Alex Parrott. The Royals’ defense was excellent and received nice plays from Phil Justvig, Patrick Bue, Mike Fournier and Matt Savoia. The Rockies received a big game from Cam Paquette at short.

A’s 5, Giants 1

The A’s defeated the Giants in a well-played game, which ended on a 7-4 double play started by left fielder Nikhil Karnane. Patrick McDonnell led the A’s offense with three solid singles and was a defensive standout behind the plate.

Chad Olivieri and Anthony Martin also contributed to the offense with hits and stolen bases.

The Giants were led offensively by Brian Barrows and Ryan Penkala (two hits).

The A’s pitching was solid. Olivieri pitched three innings, striking out nine and walking none. Mike Fuller pitched two innings, allowing a run while striking out three. For the Giants, Jason Fox, Mike Levasseur and Penkala combined for five strikeouts.

AAA

Giants 9, Rockies 3

The Giants received a strong pitching performance from Spencer Durand, who pitched five strong innings before being relieved by Stephen McLendon, who preserved the win.

Myles Johnson paced the 10-hit attack and made a tremendous catch in center field off the bat of Harper Niven. Niven pitched great and led the Rockies in hitting.

Giants 9, Blue Jays 0

The Giants received a complete game, one-hit, 14-strikeout performance from Zach Finkelstein. The potential no-hitter came to an end on a two-out single by Derrin Josephson in the sixth inning.

The Giants were led offensively with big hits from Stephen and Thomas McLendon. The Blue Jays were led by the pitching of Nick Stockman and great catching from Neysa Ouelette.

A’s 12, Rockies 11

The Rockies and A’s played an exciting game that came down to the last batter in the bottom of the sixth.

The A’s received big games from Pranav Prabhala, Roe Hendrick, Tyler Bernard and Anthony Ceci, as well as a walk-off single from Kevin Morris. The Rockies’ offense was led by Derek Downing, Harper Niven, Casey McNally and Jacob Rodrigue.

MINORS

Blue Jays open with Giants

The Blue Jays hosted the Giants in the opening game of the 2010 Minor league season.

The starting pitchers set the tone early for each team. Eric Patricio took the mound for the Blue Jays and struck out six of the first eight batters he faced.

The only hits were a single by Mike Schaff and a hard hit double by Kyle O’Connor. Nathan Cormier started for the Giants and was just as effective striking out four and getting stellar defense from Schaff and Catherine Covert.

Nick Gosselin and Ryan Murray also pitched for the Blue Jays and Giants, respectively.

TRACK

Pennichuck boys win first meet

In a tri-meet the Pennichuck boys scored 58 points to take home a victory over Milford Middle School (55.50) and Derry’s Hood Middle School (36.50).

Combined as a team, the Pennichuck boys and girls finished second with 100 points behind Milford (1111?2) and ahead of Hood (881?2).

In girls action, Taylor Choate and Amanda Stumpf combined to take four firsts and a second.

Stumpf won the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.93, while Annika Kossayda and Emily Sanford finished fifth and seventh, respectively.

Carla Kossayda (6:18.89) crossed the finish line second in the 1,600, while Paige Parkinson finished sixth.

Choate was first in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches. Choate (13.40) and Stumpf (13.62) also went 1-2 in the 100, while Olivia Pare and Carmen Butler finished sixth and ninth, respectively.

Emily Sanford (1:14.63) was fourth in the 400, Rachel Sullivan took third in the 200 (with Jen Casey in sixth and Pare in ninth), and Kayla Ferrin (2:48.98) finished first in the 800 as Vicoria Lizotte (2:58.62) and Rachel Nachos (3:08.29) came in fourth and 10th, respectively.

The foursome of Ariana Forman, Stumpf, Gabrielle Graham and Choate ran a 59.00 for first in the 4×100 relay, while the 4×200 team took second.

In boys action, C.J. Boykin, Christian Murray and Michael Pagan led they way.

Pagan (14.82) was first in the 100 hurdles and second in the long jump (13-11), while also finishing fourth in the discus (79-8) behind teammates Ryan Foster (87-9) in second and Boykin (81-71?2) in third.

Boykin (12.03) went on to win the 100, followed by teammates Christian Murray (12.52) in second, Marc Berry (12.66) in fifth and Sebastian Soto (13.65) in 10th.

Boykin also won the 200 (25.90) with Murray again on his heals in second (26.49), while also taking first in the high jump with a 5-2 leap ahead of runner-up Berry (4-10).

Boykin, Soto, Murray and Berry then teamed up for first in the 4×100 relay (50.60), while the 4×200 team came in second.

Morley Kert took 10th in the 400, while Robert Lee was fourth in both the shot put (29-10) and 800 (2:35.46). Julian Rendon (29-0) and Foster (27-0) were fifth and sixth, respectively in the shot.
