FOOTBALL

H/B JUNIOR CAVALIERS: If you missed registering your child for the Hollis Brookline Junior Cavaliers football team, there are still some openings on both the JV and varsity teams. BASEBALL

NASHUA SR. BABE RUTH: Sign-ups and tryouts for the three Nashua Senior Babe Ruth baseball teams will be held on Friday, May 21 starting with sign-ups at 5:30 p.m, at Ledge Street Field next to the Nashua Girls and Boys Club. Tryouts will continue at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23. Teams will be finalized on that Sunday.

Any Nashua resident who is between the ages of 16 and 18 and won’t turn 19 prior to Jan. 1, 2010 is eligible. All Nashua and Bishop Guertin High School players and players from last year’s Senior Babe Ruth teams must register at the field. MERRIMACK JR. LEGION: The Merrimack Junior Legion baseball program is holding tryouts for the 2010 season. Tryouts will be held at Merrimack High School’s varsity field on O’Gara Drive in Merrimack on Sunday, May 16 from 4-6 p.m. and Sunday, May 23 from 4-6 p.m. The program is open to all players between the ages of 13-17 from Amherst, Nashua and Merrimack. The season runs from June 14 thru July 21 with an opportunity to play in postseason, state and regional tournaments. STREET HOCKEY

PAL MIDDLE SCHOOL: Offered on Friday afternoons in April and May by the Nashua Police Athletic League in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua. Students at Fairgrounds, Elm Street, and Pennichuck should sign up at the Main Office at each middle school. Students at Nashua Catholic should sign up with Mr. Boissoneault.

SWIMMING

NASHUA PARKS-REC.: The Nashua Parks and Recreation Department is accepting 2010 summer swim lesson registrations. Registration forms are available at the Recreation Office in Greeley Park and on the web at www.gonashua.com. Parents can sign up their child for two of the three sessions prior to July 5. After July 5, registrations will be accepted for remaining session(s). Swim Lessons are $20 per child or a maximum of $60 per family per session. Early Bird signups will run until June 24. Each session runs two weeks and lessons are 30 minutes in length. All lessons take place between 9 a.m.-noon. Dates of the sessions are as follows: Session 1 June 28-July 9; Session 2 July 19-30; and Session 3 from Aug. 9-20.

MERRIMACK QB CLUB: The Merrimack High School Quarterback Club will be sponsoring a youth football clinic this summer for ages 7-12. Conducted under the guidance and support of head coach Joe Battista and his staff, this clinic promises a great opportunity for all who participate to improve on the fundamental skills of the game and help increase the level of play. This week-long clinic will run Monday, July 12 through Friday, July 16, from 8 a.m.-noon. Cost is $100 per player. MYA EXECUTIVE BOARD: The Merrimack Youth Association will be holding Executive Board elections on May 13 at the MYA building. The Nominating Committee is now accepting names for the following two-year terms: Vice president, assistant secretary and member at large. Contact committee member chairperson Jim Noon at 424-0697 if you wish to place a name in nomination. All volunteers and parents of an MYA participant are eligible to vote in this election. MERRIMACK QB CLUB: The Merrimack High School football team and coaching staff will hold yard clean up days on Saturdays, May 8 and 15, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Merrimack residents who need help with yard clean up after this past winter’s storms should contact Kathy Bigwood at 424-5198 or e-mail kathybigwood@msn.com. OVER 60 SOFTBALL: The Nashua Senior Softball League is looking for men aged 60-plus to play slow pitch softball. All skill levels accepted. Practice begins in early May. The season commences in early June and continues until mid-September. All skill levels accepted, and players from all areas are welcome. Games are scheduled for weekday mornings. OVER 40 MENS LACROSSE: The Rusty Bones Lacrosse Club has openings for men ages 40 and older to play in a limited contact over 40 men’s league. Practice begins in May. The season begins in June and plays through to the end of August. All skill levels will be considered; high school and or college experience desired.
