Nashua I wins Middle School Dual Hockey League title
Nashua came out flying in the championship game, eventually soaring to a 3-2 win over Triton Middle School (Byfield, Mass.) for the Middle School Dual Hockey League title.
Goal scorers for Nashua were Sean Holmes – with a beauty of a backhand over the goalie’s shoulder – Jake Latham – who deaked out a couple of players trying to knock him off of the puck before he sniped it from the left face off dot – and Gary Storace – who with 36 seconds to go in the game knocked home a loose puck in front of the Triton net for a game-winning power-play goal.
Assists in the game went to Steve Saucier and Nick Lauren, while David Kelley, Danny LeBlanc, Jonathan Searles and Derek Herling were strong on the forecheck.
Defensively, Nashua was led by Connor Tierney, Devin Herling and Tyler Searles.
Sharing the duties in net were the Alex Lake and Dalton Doire.
Not able to play due to injury were Jonathan Wilson and Philip Dupont.
To reach the final, Nashua beat Methuen (Mass.) 3-1 in the semifinals. Goal scorers were Latham, Ryan Marvin and Holmes off assists from Storace, Saucier and Latham.
Great defense and goaltending with some timely goals were key in securing this win. The defense was led by Owen McNulty, Jordan Gingras, Arya Saliany and Nick Lauren, while Lake and Doire split time in net for another key victory.
