Since dropping a 2-1 decision three weeks ago, Nashua Panthers Bantam II has ripped off five straight victories.

On Jan. 30, Danvers (Mass.) beat the Panthers 2-1 at Skate 3. Johnny Butler scored the Panthers only goal of the game, assisted by Ben Woodward and Mike Belanger.

It’s been nothing but highs since then.

On Jan. 31, Nashua beat the Keene Cobras 5-1 in Granite State League play. Woodward netted two goals, while Ben Hadley, Steve Saucier and Mike Powers added one each, with Jacob Boisvert, Stevie Barton, Powers, Butler, Ryan Marvin and Belanger providing the help.

Later that day the Panthers beat S&S (Mass.) 7-2. Brett Estrella and Tim Trudel each scored a pair of goals while Alkim Dato, Woodward and Justin Estrella all found the back of the net. Brett Estrella added a playmaker with three assists. Butler (2), Declan Stone, Belanger, Woodward, Trudel and Justin Estrella all added helpers.

On a rare weeknight game, Nashua doubled up Andover (Mass.) 6-3 on Feb. 4. Butler paced the offense with a hat trick, including a penalty shot goal. Woodward added two goals and Stone rounded out the scoring. Dato (2), Boisvert (2) and Stone provided the assists. The win evened the Panthers record at 6-6-1 in Valley League National Red North.

In Granite State League action on Feb. 12, the Panthers beat the Concord Capitals 5-2. Butler, Powers, Trudel, Estrella and Boisvert each lit the lamp. Stevie Barton earned a playmaker with four assists while Woodward, Powers, Trudel and Boisvert each chipped in a helper. With only one game remaining in the regular season Nashua has clinched first place in Tier IV and will enter the Granite State Tournament as the top seed.

On Feb. 13, Nashua defeated Lexington-Bedford (Mass.) 1-0 in Valley League play. Barton scored the game-winner with less than three minutes to play in the game. The solid defense of Jake Fagan, Stone, Belanger and Brad Lyman helped goalie AJ Bender pick up his seventh shutout of the season.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Amesbury (Mass.) 5, Hollis/Brookline 2

Despite winning the shots-on-net battle, H/B fell 5-2 to Amesbury (Mass.). Kyle Rogers and Cam Ricard tallied the goals for H/B with an assist going to Taylor Farrow. Jack Shields and Matt Mailloux also contributed to the offensive effort for H/B. Defensively, H/B was led by Farrow, Mitchell Young and Connor MacDonald. Travis Howard and Adin Farhat split the duties in net.

MITE

Hollis I 5, Billerica (Mass.) I 4

The Hollis Cavaliers Mite 1 team charged back with four unanswered goals in the third period to beat the Billerica Mite 1 5-4.

Trent Costa led the scoring attack with three goals, his final goal tying the game with just with 21 seconds on the clock. Isaac Rogers of the Cavs scored the game-winner with one second on the clock. Shannon Paquette had the the other Cavs goal and she had two key assist on the Cavs final two goals. The Cavs defensive unit of Max Sears, TJ Vitullo, played strong, shutting down Billerica in the final period.

BANTAM MINOR

SA 1996 AAA Flames clinch first In GSL

After starting their weekend with a 4-2 loss to the Nashua Pro Ambition, the Sports Arena 1996 AAA Flames bounced back to clinch first place in the Granite State Hockey League.

In the loss to Nashua, Flames goal scorers were Matt Moriarty and Noah Duplessis. Assists went to Patrick Gagliardi (2), Connor Powell and Moriarty.

The Flames then met up with a tough Concord Capitals squad. Earlier this year the two teams skated to a 1-1 tie. This time, the Flames pulled out a 2-1 win over Concord. Powell scored a goal and added an assist, while Mark Feeney scored the second goal on a hard slap shot from the point. Mike Donlan also had an assist.

The Flames then cruised to an 8-0 victory over the Boston Patriots in a Mass. Select League game. Powell recorded a seven-point day (4 goals, 3 assists). Josh Roy added two goals and two assists. Other goal scorers were Duplessis and Gagliardi. Additional assists went to Donlan (2) and Duplessis.

Ian Beliveau and Mitchell Schirch played solid goal throughout the weekend.
