Nashua Bantam I goes 0-2

The Nashua Panthers I lost to the Manchester Flames 6-1 and Winchester 4-2.

Scoring against the Flames was Jake Latham with an assist from Joe Williams. Nick Lauren and Paul Callahan stood tall defensively in front of goalie Zach Rappala.

Scoring against Winchester were Latham and Matt Ovenden with assists coming from Ovenden and Tyler Arsenault. Sean Engel and Zach Tayor were solid on defense in front of Rappala.

Hollis Mite 1 goes 1-2

The Hollis Cavaliers Mite 1 team split their weekend games with Billerica Mite 1 and lost to the Twin City Hawks.

In Game 1 against Billerica, a 7-4 Cavaliers win, Isaac Rogers led the way with six goals and TJ Vitullo tallied the other goal and had an assist. Forwards Kyle Hamilton, Benjamin Young and defensemen Sean Kelly and Dean Poulin had good games. In Game 2’s 6-3 loss to Billerica, Cavs goals were netted by Trent Costa, Rogers and Shannon Paquette. In a 4-2 loss to the Twin City Hawks, the defensive unit of Max Sears, Vitullo and Kelly kept the Hawks’ offense in check, while goalie Ben Goolsby was tough between the pipes. Rogers, Paquette, Costa, Hamilton, Young and Poulin all played well at forward.

Amherst Middle School beats H/B

Amherst Middle School beat Hollis/Brookline Middle School 5-1 at Skate 3.

Max McCabe and Matt Wilson scored two goals each, while Joe Nutting added the other for Amherst. Stephen Upton and Mikey Hayden recorded assists in the win. Amherst goalies Tommy Troie and Alec O’Connor were outstanding between the pipes, but H/B’s Kyle Rogers ended the shutout bid when he scored with under a minute remaining.

H/B Middle School falls to Londonderry

Hollis/Brookline Middle School dropped a 4-3 decision to Londonderry Middle School. Londonderry scored the game-winner with less than a minute left in regulation.

Cam Ricard scored all three goals for H/B, recording his fourth hat trick in four games. Also contributing on offense was Dan Ash, Brett Pearson and Kyle Rogers. Anchoring the defense for H/B was Ian McNamara, Tom Johnson and Mitchell Young. Travis Howard had another solid game between the pipes in defeat.

Hollis PeeWee II goes 2-0-1

Hollis PeeWee II jumped into second place in Granite State League Tier V with a 1-1 tie against Lebanon and a 6-3 win over Henniker.

Against Lebanon, goalie Nick Hebert stood tall, while Gordon Sears scored the only Hollis goal assisted by John McPartlan.

In the win over Henniker, Hollis’ defense was led by James Young, Alex Fagan, Evan Daskalos (two goals), McParlan (one assist). Ian Birmingham and Nick Sengstaken created chances with their skating and checking. Other goals were scored by Dalton Doire (two goals, one assist), Cameron Boisvert (one goal, one assist) and Devin Brickett (one goal, two assist). Also recording assists were Troy Thirkell and Tyler Roberge.

In Dual State League action, Hollis beat Billerica 3-2. Tyler Gouveia (two goals), Sears (one goal, one assist) and Boisvert (two assists).

Hollis I posts weekend record of 1-1

Hollis PeeWee I came up short against the Junior Monarchs 3-2, but beat NH East 3-2.

Goal scorers against the Monarchs were Daniel Ashe and Jack Shields with assists coming from Brett Pitre and Andrew Marquis. Darren Costa was strong on the forecheck, while the defense was led by Mitchell Young and Tom Johnson.

In the win over NH East, Jeremiah Latham, Jack Shields and Tom Johnson scored for Hollis with assists from Ashe and Aidan Conlon. Evan Wendt and Conlon were strong defensively, while Cameron Richall started multiple breakouts. Robbie LaVine did a great job controlling the play, single-handedly tying up a puck behind the East for over a minute with three East players trying to take it away from him. Playing well in net for both games was Curtis Richall.

Sports Arena 1996 AAA Flames grab GSL’s top spot

The Sports Arena 1996 AAA Flames went 4-0-1 in a busy four days of hockey to take over sole possession of first place in the Granite State League.

Goalie Ian Beliveau led the Flames in a 3-0 win over the Hooksett Avalanche. Josh Roy, Noah Duplessis and John Foote scored for the Flames with helpers from Connor Powell (two), Foote, Matt Moriarty and Roy.

In the Flames 6-1 win over the Nashua Pro Ambition, Powell and Mike Donlan scored two goals each, with Roy and Duplessis chipping in with one apiece. Assists went to Foote (two), Powell (two), Donlan and Moriarty. Mitchell Schirch earned the win in goal.

Led by a five-goal performance from Moriarty, the Flames beat the Boston Patriots 6-3. Donlan added the other goal in the come-from-behind win. Assists went to Duplessis (three), Andrew Kehas (two), Roy, Powell, Patrick Gagliardi and Parker Anderson.

The Flames tied the Concord Capitals 1-1. Moriarty scored off a Roy pass late in the third period to tie it up. Beliveau was strong in net, and the defense played tough throughout.

In an 8-2 win over the Stars, Powell (two assists) had a hat trick, Kehas scored two, and additional goals came from Mark Feeney, Donlan and Foote. Schirch was solid in goal for the Flames.
