Free Throw Contests
Six win Hudson K of C titles
The Hudson Knights of Columbus held its annual Free Throw Contest, which was open to boys and girls ages 10 to 14. There are winners in each category.
This year’s winners are:
Girls (age 11) – Amanda Torres;
Boys (age 12) – Chad Collins;
Boys (age 13) – Aaron Mbarani;
Girls (age 13) – Teddi Starr Kramer;
Boys (age 14) – Izhar Mbarani;
Girls (age 14) – Kayla Torres.
The winners will be presented their trophies at a future Knights meeting. All the winners are now eligible for the State Free Throw Contest.
Merrimack K of C hosting competition
All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2010 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 2-3:30 p.m. at St. John Neumann Gym, 708 Milford Road (Route 101A, behind McDonald’s), in Merrimack. The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually with winners progressing through local, district, and state competition. All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Boys and girls 10 to 14 years old are eligible to participate and will compete in respective age divisions. Last year more than 151,000 sharpshooters participated in over 3100 local competitions.
The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.7 million members in more than 13,000 local councils. Last year, Knights donated 60 million volunteer hours and $143 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
