Could the area have a Division I or II boys or girls track team champion this weekend?

If so, it will be a well-earned surprise.

Pinkerton and Bedford have ruled a lot of Division I over the spring, while Division II may be wide open.Both meets will be held concurrently on Saturday – weather permitting – at Londonderry High School. The meets’ combined start time has been moved back to 11 a.m. after heavy rain is expected in the early morning.

Originallly Nashua South was to host but the local proposal called to have a couple of events on Friday and that was rejected, despite the fact the indoor meet had events a week apart. Nashua will likely try again for next spring with a one-day proposal.

But keep an eye on the defending Division II champion Milford boys.

Here’s a look at some of the local favorites:

BOYS DIVISION I

Nashua North’s Kobe Perry is the No. 2 seed in the 100; Bishop Guertin’s Ethan Fischer is the top seed in the 3200, following in the footsteps of former Cardinal Matt Giardina. Alvirne’s Joey Marcotte is No. 1 in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. The Broncos are seeded third in the 4×100 relay.Nashua South is fourth in the 4×800.

North’s Gavin Suchecki is a co-No. 1 seed in the high jump, while Nashua South’s Preston Bois is the top seed in the pole vault and second in the triple jump.

There may be some local champions in the throws. Alvirne’s Charles Barrett is seeded second in the shot put, first in the discus, and South’s Sawyer Penny is ranked tops in the javelin.

GIRLS DIVISION I

North with some top three seeds looks to be the top local. The Titans’ Abbigail Acevedo is tied for the top seed in the high jump and is third seed in the 200. Nashua South’s Emma Millette is the top seed in the pole vault.

The Titans’ Allie Frye and Charlotte Wilson are tied for the third best times in the 300 hurdles. North’s Sarah Frye is the second seed in the triple jump.

The Titans strength has been the 4×400 relay and they are seeded third behind Bedford and Exeter. Alvirne’s Ava Tardif is the third seed in the javelin.

DIVISION II BOYS

Can the Milford Spartans repeat as team champions? It’s out of the realm of possibility as they’ll get their points.

For example, speedster Josh Pettingell is No. 2 in both the 100 and 200. and Grant Skorupan is seeded first in the 800 and second in the 1600. That’s a lot of points right there. It could be a local battle in the 4×100 as Milord and Souhegan are ranked one-two. And, the Spartans’ Ethan Moran is ranked No. 1 in the high jump.

Souhegan is No. 1 in the 4×800 relay and John Katsel is tops in both the long and and triple jumps. Hollis Brookline’s Sam Kallfelz is seeded fourth in the discus.

DIVISION II GIRLS

Milford’s Rylee Coates is the No.1 seed in the 400. Hollis Brookline’s Grace Dow could have a good meet. She’s the top seed in the 300 hurdles, seeded second in the 100 hurdles, fourth in the 200,

Souhegan’s Samantha Swanbon is ranked third in the 800

The Cavs are seeded third in both the 4×100 and 4×800 relays.

In the field, Souhegan’s Hannah Stone is ranked second in the high jump, Milford’s Zoe Rick is seeded third in both the shot put and discus.
