It’s not summer yet,and Wednesday’s local high school slate will tell you that.

But three local boys tennis teams – Nashua South, Bishop Guertin, and Souhegan – had summer-like fun, advancing in the NHIAA state team tournaments, two in upsets. And Souhegan’s win creates an all-local quarterfinal on Friday.

But there was baseball,softball, lacrosse, boys volleyball – plenty to digest.

We begin, though, with tennis:

BOYS TENNIS

DIVISION I PRELIMS

NO. 11 NASHUA SOUTH 5, NO. 6 WINDHAM 4

The Panthers pulled off a huge upset on the road, the match coming down to No. 3 doubles with sophomore Pranav Udayakumar and junior Sean Hall getting the decisive 8-6 win.

The teams split singles and the first two doubles matches, with South (6-9) also getting a win at No. 2 doubles with Akash Kumar/Akshar Ganta winning 8-2.

South’s three singles winners were Yuvan Bala at No. 1, 8-6; Ganta at No. 5 (9-8, 7-1) and Pranav Vdayakumar 8-3 at No. 6.

The Panthes will now head to face No. 3 Derryfield in the quarterfinals on Friday.

NO. 8 BISHOP GUERTIN 6, NO. 9 PINKERTON 3

The Cards took four of six singles to set the tone heading into doubles, where Jonny Perrott and Evan Deyak won at No. 2 and Max Moynihan/Maxx Lizotte won at No.3 8-1.

In singles, BG’s winners were No. 1 Jack Kostansek (8-5), Moynihanat No. 4 (8-2), Jaxon Deyak at No. 5 (8-3) and Lizotte at No. 6 (7-5).

Guertin’s reward is to head to face No. 1 Bedford on Friday.

DIVISON II PRELIMS

NO. 11 SOUHEGAN 5, NO. 6 PLYMOUTH 4

The Sabers took two out of three doubles to pull off the upset and set up an all-local quarterfinal vs. Hollis Brookline on Friday.

Brian Goddard/Parker Schade won at No. 1 doubles 8-5 and Patrick Bryson/Brock Keener at No. 2, 8-1.

In singles, Saber winners were No. 1 Goddard (8-2), No. 2 Schade (8-5) and No. 3 Bryson (8-4).

BASEBALL

PINKERTON 15, ALVIRNE 3

The Broncos (4-13) allowed 11 runs in the third inning and could not recover. Playing well on offense were Matt Bebris (hit), Memphis Beach (hit), Jameson Krueger (hit, run), Brady Mitchell (hit, run), Logan Orr (run), Alex Drown (RBI), Casey Benning (RBI) and PJ Millette (RBI). Brody Buja allowed 10 hits and nine runs (eight earned) in two and one-thirds innings. Alvirne hosts Bishop Guertin on Thursday.

BISHOP BRADY 3, CAMPBELL 0

The Cougars (9-6) drop their fourth straight game after struggling to generate timely offense. Brady Marcotte paced Campbell offensively with two hits, while Ivan Scheafer swiped two bases. Jack Curtis got the start on the mound and kept the game scoreless through two innings. Campbell hosts Somersworth on Friday.

SOFTBALL

MERRIMACK 17, NASHUA NORTH 1

The Tomahawks (14-3) win their fourth straight in dominant fashion over the Titans. Cam Belen, Allie Wyand and Emma Chase combined pitching effort shut down North. Merrimack collected nine hits led by nine different hitters. Allie Wyand, Olivia Burke Cam Bellen, Ashley Senecal, Katie Coolidge , Marissa Nelson, Emma Chase, Kendra Hendrzak and Adriana Omar all had hit in the win. Nina Anaya led North with a RBI. Maycie Hudson, Neha Lingadal, Alexa Lozada and Aubree St. Aubin each added a hit. Marissa Trudel gave up 11 runs on two hits in one and one-third innings. Merrimack visits Salem on Friday and North ends their season with a 0-18 record.

WINNACUNNET 11, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers (5-12) fell for the third consecutive game. Cate Marvin took the loss surrendering 11 runs (six earned) on 12 hits, striking out three in six innings. Marvin added two hits and a RBI in the batter’s box and Cara Leblond also had two hits. South visits Manchester Central-Memorial on Friday.

BOYS LACROSSE

PINKERTON 25, NASHUA NORTH 2

Nick Wilkinson and Jared Gauthier scored one goal each in the Titans (5-12) loss to the Astros. Josh Parsons made 16 saves. North visits Nashua South on Friday.

MERRIMACK 16, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL-CENTRAL 2

Cayden Dine (five goals, two assists) and Sean Anderson (five goals, two assists) paced the Spartans offense by combining for 14 points. Gabe Gorman (four goals, assist), Gavin Hickey (two assists), Austin Kovaliv (assist), Cash Torres (first varsity goal), Josh Kahn (goal, assist) and Conor Marshall (assist) added to the offensive outburst. Mason Tremblay and Seamus Hickey recorded seven and four saves respectively. Torres, Reid Guidish and Hunter Laflotte combined for 19 face-off wins. Merrimack finishes with a record of 10-7.

KEARSARGE 8, MILFORD 4

The Spartans end their regular season with a record of 3-13. Rocco Bartling was stellar in net collecting 10 saves. Bentley Bowers scored two goals with Braeden Orlen and Josh Clark scoring one and Jamie Noble added an assist. Milford

TIMBERLANE 14, SOUHEGAN 6

Judd Harris found the back of the net five times in the Sabers (3-11) loss to the Owls. Rob Goodhue scored one goal with Sean Reardon and Conall Steeves each making seven saves. Souhegan hosts Alvirne on Friday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 13, WINDHAM 8

Carly Benzreki was wrecking ball leading the Panthers (10-6) with eight goals in the win. Gemma Williams tallied four goals and an assist and Wylie Hart added a goal. Emma Herlihy had six saves in net. Maddie Langer, Nitzann Alkalay, Karina Santana and Lexi McGuire led the defene. South plays Nashua North on Friday.

SOUHEGAN 18, BEDFORD 7

Libby Kennedy, Emmie Curran (assist) and Averi Curran could not be stopped with each scoring five goals for the Sabers (14-1). Izzy Stevenson tallied a goal and five assists, Lanai Hickman added two goals and an assist and Abbey Gray had an assist. Souhegan visits Salem on Thursday.

MILFORD 16, INTER-LAKES 6

Payton Gaj and Olivia Lochead each collected four goals in the Spartans (5-10) win. Maya Remella scored two goals with Maggie Pelletier and Kaelyn Gryzb scoring one apiece. Milford hosts Bow on Friday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

DOVER 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

The Cavs (3-12) fell to Dover by the scores of 23-25, 17-25, 21-25. Ben LeClerc recorded nine kills and Zac Wu collected 17 assists. Jameson Evelyn and Jack Barnes had five kills apiece and Liam Gagne had a solid night on the defensive end. HB visits Salem on Thursday.
