Here’s what it seems you can always count on: taxes, death, summer arriving in May after Mother Nature skips spring altogether, and … a Bishop Guertin baseball victory.

The Cards won their ninth straight game on Sunday, 12-6 over Winnacunnet in Hampton to improve to 11-4.

They did it with a familiar name getting the win on the mound — senior Ben Geiger, who threw a no-hitter this past week. There was no no-no this time, but it was still yes-yes for Geiger. He went all seven innings, allowing seven hits and three earned runs, striking out seven.

This wasn’t an easy win, as BG was down 5-0 after the first inning and 6-5 after three. But a whopping seven-run sixth did the trick. Guertin outhit the Warriors (9-5) 15-8.

BG was led offensively by Cam Flandes who went 3 for 4 with a run and two RBIs, while Geiger helped himself out by going 2 for 3 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.

Liam Ireland (2 for 5, two runs, two RBIs) and Jake Bowen (2 for 3, two runs, an RBI) also contributed.

Not a bad day to be in Hampton, and the Cards made the most of it. Guertin hosts 3-10 Manchester Memorial on Tuesday at Holman Stadium.
