HS ROUNDUP: Cards rout North; Astro girls top Panthers

While there was excitement at Holman Stadium with the North-South Battle of the Bridge Friday, there was plenty of other high school action around the area, but not many were really close.

Here’s the rundown:

BOYS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 20, NASHUA NORTH 2

The Cardinals improve to 8-2 with a dominant win over the Titans (2-8). The Cards got three goals and an assist from Jack Redfern, plus goals by Jackson Warren, Sean McGarry (two and an assist), Cooper Paquette (two), Hugh Roark, Drew Redfern, Zach Fortier, Isaac Stutz, Robby Leblanc (two), Steven Kouch, Broden Morse, Ben Michels, Will Osborn and Alex Tower.

Gavin Dungan and Nick Wilkinson each scored for North. Josh Parsons made 17 saves including his 600th career save.

BG faces Staples today at UMass Amherst and North visits Bedford on Tuesday.

GILFORD 4, MILFORD 3

The Spartans (2-7) lose their third game in a row in a low scoring affair. Braeden Orlen, Tyler Noble and Dylan MacLeod each found the back of the net. Rocco Bartling made seven saves in net. Milford hosts John Stark on Monday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

PINKERTON 13, NASHUA SOUTH 3

The Panthers (7-3) had trouble holding down their home turf when they were visited by the Astros. Wylie Hart scored two goals and Aubrey Rose scored her first varsity goal. Gemma Williams dished out two assists and Emma Herlihy made eight saves. Karina Santana and Nitzann Alkalay played well on the defensive side. South hosts Souhegan on Monday.

BASEBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 12, LACONIA 0

The Cavs get back to their winning ways after a slight hiccup in their last contest. Jordan Morelli led the way driving in four runs on three hits, including a home run to centerfield in the third inning. HB jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the second inning after Nate Fauteux drew a walk, scoring one run, Keenan Myers drew a walk, scoring one run and Matthew Bergin doubled, scoring three runs. HB stole eight bases on the night with Renzo Bergskaug and Bergin each stole multiple bases apiece. Connor Gryniewicz earned the win allowing seven hits and striking out four over five innings. HB hosts Souhegan on Monday.

SOFTBALL

MILFORD 18, HANOVER 1

The Spartans (3-5) grab a much needed win after falling three games in a row. Arianna Wales led the offense with two hits and three RBIs. Mya Coombs collected two hits and two RBIs and Ashley French tallied one hit and two RBIs. Alivia Mazzeo went four innings giving up one hit and striking out eight in the circle. Milford hosts Oyster River on Monday.

LACONIA 15, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2

Brooklyn Olszewski (two innings pitched) and Nina Giguere (three innings pitched, one strikeout) each saw time in the circle in the Cavs (0-6) loss on Friday. Lindey Emmons scored a run with Emma Flynn (RBI) and Madelyn Sinclair each hitting a double. HB host Souhegan on Monday.

BOYS TENNIS

BISHOP GUERTIN 9, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 0

The Cardinals improve to 5-4 after their shutout win over Memorial. Jack Kostansek (8-0), Evan Deyak (8-1), Jonny Perrott (8-0), Max Moynihan (8-0), Maxx Lizotte (8-0) and Jaxon Deyak (8-0) won in singles. Doubles winners were Kostansek/Jaxon Deyak (8-1), Perrott/Evan Deyak (8-1) and Mingjing Tang/M Chen (8-2). BG visits Dover on Monday.

GIRLS TENNIS

BISHOP GUERTIN 8, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 1

The Cardinals (8-2) won their eighth straight match on Friday. Anna Perrott (8-0), Georgie Howell (8-0), Jaclyn Kriscunas (8-0), Dayana Cottito (8-0), Ainsley Flood (8-0) and Faith Hebert (8-0) won in singles. In doubles action it was Perrott/Kriscunas (8-0) and Howell/Cottito (8-0) who came out on top. BG hosts Dover on Monday.

NASHUA SOUTH 6, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 3

The Panthers (4-4) picked up the win after losing three in a row. Singles winners were Krina Dani (8-4), Gowri Akkineni (8-3) and Nikhi Matta (8-3). Piya Chokshi/Riya Shroff (8-0), Dani/Ananya Arun (8-2) and Akkineni/Natalie (8-0) won in doubles. South visits Exeter on Monday.

PLYMOUTH 6, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3

The Cavs drop to 6-4 after their loss on Friday. Anna Heiplik (8-3) and Max Walsh (8-3) won in singles competition. Heiplik/Maddie Barich (8-2) picked up a win in doubles. HB visits Kingswood on Monday.
