Who says they can’t play in the rain?

A few high school games were held despite the lousy weather Wednesday afternoon, and the Bishop Guertin High School girls lacrosse team is glad they were. The Cards on the carpet at Bulldog Stadium came out on top in a big way, while rival Souhegan also won.

Several diamond games plus tennis matches were postponed; check on your fav school’s website to see the reschedulings.

BISHOP GUERTIN 13, BEDFORD 8

A huge road win for the Cards, now 8-3 after Kaylee Cruikshank had six goals and Lola Dumont and Charlotte Accomando three each.

Samantha Butler added a goal for BG, which is at Pinkerton on Monday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 18, DOVER 1

Libby Kennedy collected six goals in the Sabers (7-1) fifth straight win. Libby Kennedy (two goals, six assists), Emmie Curran (two goals, assist), Merideth Heimarck (goal), Lanai Hickman (three goals), Averie Curran (four assists), Abbey Gray (goal), Maddy Behn (goal), Haley Christanson (goal) and Emilia Koch (goal) added to the offense. Souhegan visits Nashua South on Monday.

BOYS LACROSSE

ST. THOMAS 12, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

Mike O’Hearn scored the lone goal for the Cavs (3-4) in their loss. Coltern Herrera, Rowen Feightner and Jack MacDonald played well defensively. HB visits Derryfield on Friday.

SOFTBALL

WINDHAM 13, NASHUA NORTH 0

The Titans (0-9) struggled vs. the Jaguars in their shutout loss. Hayden Denehy gave up one hit and five runs in one inning pitched to start the game. Marissa Trudel pitched four innings in relief allowing eight hits and seven runs (six earned). Defensively, though, North did turn a double play.

North hosts Bedford on Monday.

GIRLS TENNIS

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, MILFORD 0

The Cavs (6-3) swept the Spartans (1-8) on Wednesday afternoon. Anna Heiplik (8-0), Iresha Sidhu (8-4), Max Walsh (8-2), Carlie Holt (8-1), Maddie Barich (6-0) and Bianca Campanella (8-1) won in singles. Doubles winners were Heiplik/Walsh (8-0), Campanella/Jade Lacasse (9-7) and Addy Olszewski/Jenny Brodmerkle (8-4). HB visits Plymouth and Milford visits Timberlane on Friday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

PINKERTON 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

The Cavs (1-5) were shut down by the Astros by the scores of 16-25, 18-25, 23-25. Thomas Hood tallied 10 service points and three kills with Ben LeClerc added seven kills. Zac Wu, Jameson Evelyn and Danigan Koenig played well for the locals. HB hosts John Stark on Friday.
