HS Roundup: Locals shine at Frosh-Soph Meet; Merrimack boys lax wins

If you want to see the future of local high school track, it was on display at the annual Kiwanis Freshman-Sophomore Meet at Salem High School on Saturday as locals dominated the results sheet.
That was the main event for the day, so let’s take a look at that plus some lacrosse, etc.
BOYS & GIRLS TRACK
LOCALS SHINE AT KIWANIS MEET
The Nashua North foursome of Ryan Hutchins, Sam Nardone, Iverson Pacheco and Jacob Griffin captured the 4×400 relay in 3:46.12.
Nardone won the 200 in 24.24, with Joshua Gott third. Titan Jose Marcano won the discus at 135-03, and Griffin won the 110 hurdles in 17.19 seconds. Titan Adriel Gonzalez won the 300 hurdles in 47.22, ahead of teammate Jace Gallego who was second. North’s 4×200 team was second as well.
Pacheco and Hutchins were two-three in the 400. North’s Weston Lyford was second in the javelin, and Jace Gallego same in the triple jump. Alex Pichardo was second in the 1600. North’s 4×800 team took second (Ocar Burns, Alex Pichardo, Tom White, Kayden allerand-Kenneally)
Nashua South’s Evan Jean took second in the 3200 (10:31.44). Mason Ganko was third in the discus. The Panthers 4×400 relay team was also third. Charles Long was third in the pole vault and Jeremiah Agbo same in the high jump.
Hollis Brookline’s Sam Kallfelz was second in the discus and Mason Fernandes same in the 200.
Milford’s Carter Macia took third in the 110 hurdles.
Bishop Guertin’s Vinny Nalen won the shot put at 39-08. Jason Gremm was third in the triple jump
Souhegan’s Shawn McCarthy was second in the shot put at 39-05.50 and Jacob Spencer third in the 800.
GIRLS MEET
In the girls meet, Nashua North’s Aniya Murray won the discus in 100-84
Isabella Leavitt was first in the 400 in 1:06.28 and third in the high jump, Zahra Chrichem third in the shot put, and Abigail Bozek was second in the triple jump and 110 hurdles and Katrina Neveu third in the 200.
Nashua South’s Ayvah Chrisman won the 300 hurdles in 56.12 while Olivia Liv Hudson was third. Auden King was second in the 400, Aliyah Rogers was third in the discus and the Panthers’ 4×400 relay team was third.
Bishop Guertin’s Zoe Coler won the 1600 in 5:18.22; Jaylyn Paul was second and Shannon Forsyth third. Jocelyn Santosuosso took third in the 100.
The Cards 4×400 relay team of Zoe Coler, Shannon Forsyth, Jaylyn Paul and Maddy McCarthy was victorious in 4:22.77.
Alvirne’s Reese Wanamaker won the 200 in 28.40. The Broncos’ 4×800 team of Morgan Soupal, Sharliana Downey, Emma Melo and Sophie Sargent won in 11:27.45 and their 4×400 team was second. Ava Tardif was second in the javelin, and Celia Smalley was second in the high jump. Ella Marcotte took third in the 110 hurdles and Taelyn Downey third in the 400.
Hollis Brookline’s Madelyn Reardon won the long jump at 15-06
Milford’s Rylee Coates was second in the 800 and Rachel Sixon third while Olivia Hyde was second in the long jump.

BOYS LACROSSE
MERRIMACK 5, CHELMSFORD (Mass.) 4
Merrimack’s Cayden Dine scored as time expired in Chelmsford. Sean Anderson had the assist, and also scored a goal while Dine had an assist.
Landon Leblang (goal), Austin Kovaliv, and Shea Scott (goal, assist) also contributed while goalie Mason Tremblay had 11 saves.
Now 5-2, the Tomahaks host Nashua South on Monday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
WESTWOOD (Mass.) 8,BISHOP GUERTIN 7
The Cards fell behind 6-2 midway through the second quarter, closed to within 7-5 after three but fell just short to see their five-game winning streak snapped. Now 6-3, BG is at Salem on Monday.
SOFTBALL
MERRIMACK 10, KEENE 1
Marissa Nelson and Ashley Senecal led the way, with Nelson tossing a complete-game three-hitter and striking out a whopping 17. Both players had three hits and each had a homer.
Also, Allie Wyand had three hits while Cam Bellen, Ashlyn Simmons and Katie Coolidge also had hits.
Merrimack (6-2) takes on Exeter on Monday.
