HS Roundup: BG diamond teams win again; Milford boys lax on top

It was another good day for the Bishop Guertin High School nines on the their respective diamonds on Friday, also another win for Souhegan baseball while the Milford boys lacrosse team traveled down to Massachusetts to get a win.

Here’s the day’s results from a light school vaca Friday. Don’t worry, the gangs all come back on Monday for a full week of high school fun:

SOFTBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 17, MANCHESTER CENTRAL-MEMORIAL 5

Bailey Brisk helped BG in the circle (zero earned runs allowed, four strikeouts) and at the plate (2 for 3, three RBIs) while Avery Zapanas went 3 for 5, leading the Cards (5-3, five of last six) in hits.

Other contributors for the Cards included Chloe Sellers (RBI single and a double, multiple walks), Maris Bilodeau (three-RBI hit), Lanna Bernier and Deeanna Miles (multiple hits, RBI singles), Kenzi Labbe(sac fly, RBI, eight Ks in the circle in relief) plus Shayne Amico and Emily Powers (multiple walks).

PORTSMOUTH 19, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers (2-6) were held to two hits, one each by Maliyah Richer-Valentin (RBI) and Cate Marvin; Marvin took the loss in the circle, giving up eight earned runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walking five. Eleven of the Clippers’ runs were unearned.

South hosts Goffstown on Monday.

WINNACUNNET 19, NASHUA NORTH 3

The Titans (0-8) got an RBI by Julianna Cassista (1 for 3). Maycie Hudson, Neha Lingadal, Taina (Nina) Anaya also each had a hit for North.

Lingadal took the loss in the circle, but only three of the runs she gave up over five innings were earned while she struck out three and walked four, allowing 12 hits. North hosts Windham on this Wednesday.

BASEBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 14, LONONDERRY 4

The Cards continued their latest roll, improving to 5-4 after their third straight win and fourth in the last five.

Relievers Pat LeMay and Kayden Forleo combined for three innings of one-hit shutout pitchng at Holman Stadium.

BG was led offensively by Caden Siraco (4 for 4, two runs, two RBIs), Tyler Parks (3 for 3, double , run scored, four RBIs, three stolen bases), Camden Flanders (3 for 4, two RBIs, two stolen bases) and Gavin Santos (2 for 4, double, three runs, an RBI and stolen base).

The Lancers fell to 6-3. The Cards are at Portsmouth on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 14, PELHAM 4

The Sabers 95-3) had a ton of contributors in this one, not the least of which was Blake Powers, who got the win on the mound allowing two earned runs over four innings with 11 strikeouts, and going 2 for 4 at the plate with three RBIs.

Brody Smith went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a double; Joe Mayo had a double and three runs scored with an RBI, and Jacob Wilson went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, and two doubles.

Souhegan hosts HB on Monday in a key local Division II contest.

BOYS LACROSSE

MILFORD 4, MYSTICA VALLEY 1

The Spartans got their second win of the season (2-4), this one played vs. a charter school in Malden, Mass.

Tyler Noble and Bentley Bowers each had two goals, while Jace Wilhelmi had two assists.

Rocco Bartling had 13 saves while Josh Clark had eight faceoff wins.

BISHOP GUERTIN 24, SALEM 0

The Cards improved to 6-2 as Owen King led the way with four goals and two asssists and Broden Morse and Jack Redfern each had three goals and three assists. Dante Sawson, James Ella and Issac Stutz heach had two goals, as did Drew Redfern. A.J. Plant, Robby Lablanc, Alex Tower, and Josiah Zeeman each had a goal.
