HS Roundup: Geiger shines for BG; South boys lax rolls

Sports never takes a holiday, in fact, it creates one. So no surprise there was a semi-full slate of local high school games on Monday, and no surprise thet Bishop Guertin pitcher Ben Geiger pitched another gem, or that the Hollis Brookline baseball team thumped an opponent, or that Owen Roy had a scoring day to remember for Nashua South boys lacrosse.
Here’s a look:
BASEBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 12, SALEM 0
Ben Geiger struck out six and allowed three hits in five innings in the Cardinals (3-4) win over the Blue Devils. BG was led offensively by Geiger (double, run, two RBIs), Liam Ireland (two hits, run, three RBIs, stolen base), Cam Flanders (hit, two runs, two RBIs, stolen base) and Jake Bowen (hit, two runs, two RBIs, stolen base). BG hosts Keene on Wednesday.
TRINITY 13, NASHUA SOUTH 2
Jacoby Caissie had the Panthers (3-4) lone hit and Anderson Tolentino stole a base in the loss. South visits Windham on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 13, CONVAL 0
Ben George’s one-hitter led the Cavs (6-0) to their sixth consecutive win. George struck out seven in five innings. Leading the offense were Keenan Myers (hit, two runs, two RBIs), Matt Bergin (hit, run, RBI), Connor Gryniewicz (two hits, two runs, two RBIs), Thomas Howie (hit, two runs, RBI), Quinn Imbrogno (run), Jordan Morelli (two hits, two runs, three RBIs), Nate Fauteux (two hits, RBI) and Renzo Bergskaug (hit, two runs, RBI). The locals executed well on the bases stealing six. HB visits Souhegan on May 4.
SOUHEGAN 11, COE-BROWN 1
The Sabers (4-2) pick up a decisive road win against Coe-Brown on Monday. Jack Parisi pitched five innings allowing four hits, one run and striking out six. Playing great at the plate were Parisi (hit, run, stolen base), Brody Smith (two runs, stolen base), Alex Trudel (hit, two runs), Joe Mayo (two hits, run, RBI), Blake Powers (RBI), Jacob Wilson (run) and Jacob Bryan (hit, run, two RBIs, stolen base). Souhegan visits St. Thomas on Wednesday.
BOYS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 23, SALEM 7
The Panthers (4-3) take down the Blue Devils in dominant fashion for their third straight win. Owen Roy took charge by recording nine goals and two assists. Others playing well in the win were Max Signoroni (five goals, assist), Raiden Nuy-Chao (three goals), Grant Imbeault (two goals, three assists), Tyler Benzreki (two goals, three assists), Cody Jackson (goal, three assists), Chase Rioux (goal, assist), Cole Warshafsky (goal, assist 19 face-off wins), Joe Kudla (two assists), Jason Brinley (two assists) and Cam Warshafsky (assist). South visits Merrimack on May 4.
EXETER 20, NASHUA NORTH 1
The Titans trailed 12-0 at the half and managed one goal by Nick Wilkinson early in the second half in running time. The Titans, now 1-5, are at Windham on Wednesday.
LONDONDERRY 11, MERRIMACK 8
Gavin Hickey (two goals, two assists) tallied four points in the Tomahawks loss to the Lancers. Sean Anderson collected three assists, Gabe Gorman scored two goals, Mason Tremblay made 15 saves with Josh Kahn and Cayden Dine adding one goal apiece. Merrimack visits Souhegan on Wednesday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 13, SALEM 4
Molly Mullaney and Carly Benzekri (two assists) collected four goals apiece in the Panthers (6-1) win on Monday. Briley Landsteiner (two goals, two assists), Lexi McGuire (goal, assist), Wylie Hart (goal), Isabel Picanco (goal), Gemma Williams (assist), Emma Herlihy (two saves) and CJ Oro (two saves) contributed in the win. Maddie Langer, Karina Santana, Hailey Cote, Nicole DeJesus and Bella Hwalek led the defensive unit. South hosts Portsmouth on May 4.
SOUHEGAN 15, PINKERTON 4
The Sabers improve to 5-1 after winning their third straight contest. Izzy Stevenson (goal, three assists), Libby Kennedy (four goals), Emmie Curran (three goals, two assists), Meredith Heimarck (assist), Averie Curran (three goals, three assists), Lanai Hickman (three goals), Abbey Gray (goal) and Molly Benson (two saves) led the way for the locals. Souhegan visits Manchester Central-West on May 4.
