HS Roundup: South, Souhegan nines win; HB lax edges Sabers

Today is the Day of Baseball at Holman Stadium but Nashua South had a day it will want to remember with a big win on the road, the Panthers’ second straight. Meanwhile, the Souhegan nine topped rival Milford, and there werekey results in tennis, lacrosse and softball on a busy Friday before the start of vacation week. Here’s a look:

BASEBALL

NASHUA SOUTH 3, CONCORD 2

The Panthers (2-3) win their second straight contest after getting by Concord on the road. Aidan O’Connor struck out two in six innings. O’Connor also had two doubles, a home run and two RBIs. Owen Varley added two hits, a stolen base and a RBI with Ryan Caruso scoring a run. South hosts Pinkerton on Saturday.

SOUEHGAN 11, MILFORD 0

The Sabers shutout the Spartans (0-5) and improve to 3-1. Blake Powers pitched four innings of not hit baseball and struck out seven. Leading the offense were Brody Smith (hit, run, RBI), Alex Trudel (two hits, run, RBI), Joe Mayo (hit, two RBIs), Powers (two hits, two runs, RBI), Ethan Gaudet (hit, run), Jacob Wilson (hit, two run, RBI), Jack Parisi (two hits, two runs, RBI) and Carter Glines (hit, run, RBI). Souhegan visits Concord on Saturday and Milford visits Pelham on May 4.

PROSPECT MOUNTAIN 6, CAMPBELL 0

Prospect Mountain broke the game open with a six-run third inning and the Cougars (4-2) couldn’t come back. Aidan Kepple and Ivan Schafer each collected a hit. Campbell visits Raymond on May 4.

SOFTBALL

CONCORD 9, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers fall to 2-4 after a tough loss to the Crimson Tide. Cate Marvin took the loss giving up nine runs on 14 hits and striking out five in seven innings. Brooke Berger and Mia Estremera each collected a hit. South hosts Windham on Wednesday.

SOUHEGAN 21, MILFORD 5

The Sabers (2-3) hitting took the stage in a dominating win over the Spartans (2-3). Milford’s Alivia Mazzeo, Mya Coombs and Nadia Dutton played well offensively. Mazzeo struck out four in the loss. Souhegan visits Coe-Brown on Monday and Milford visits Pelham on May 4.

BOYS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 7, CONCORD 6

Grant Imbeault collected a hat trick as the Panthers squeeze by Concord to even their record 3-3. Owen Roy (goal, two assists), Raidan Nuy-Chao (two goals, assist), Max Signoroni (goal), Cody Jackson (two assists), Joe Kudla (assist) and Bryce Stuart (nine saves) contributed in the win. South hosts Salem on Monday.

KEENE 15, NASHUA NORTH 8

Nico Bottari scored four goals in the Titans loss, pushing them down to 1-4. Jared Gauthier tallied two goals and Josh Parsons made 11 saves. North hosts Exeter on Wednesday.

BISHOP BRADY 12, MILFORD 2

Braeden Orlen and Josh Clark each scored in the Spartans (1-4) loss. Dylan McLeod added an assist. Milford visits Mystic Valley Charter on May 1.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, SOUHEGAN 8

Michael O’Hearn (two goals) scored the game winning goal to get the Cavs (3-3) past the Sabers (2-3). Bennett Torgersen tallied a hat trick; while Tim Spencer, Luke Kinney, Sam Parella and Bryce Cote each scored a goal. Levi Mitchell made 14 saves.

Nate Hill (two goals, two assists), Jud Harris (three goals), Mason Mobley (two goals), Owen Mobley (goal) and Sean Reardon (11 saves) played well in the loss. HB visits Hanover on May 4 and Souhegan visits Derryfield on Tuesday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 20, NASHUA NORTH 2

The Sabers (3-1) got to the net with ease in their win over the Titans. Contributing in the offensive explosion were Izzy Stevenson (two goals, two assists), Libby Kennedy (three goals, two assists), Emmie Curran (goal, assist), Merideth Heimarck (goal, assist), Marley Bacon (goal, assist), Averie Curran (two goals), Eva Stiles (goal, assist), Lanai Hickman (two goals, two assists), Sophie Jacobs (two goals), Abbey Grey (three assists), Maddy Behn (goal), Gabby Cook (goal), Phoebe Handwerk (goal), Madaline Houle (goal) and Haley Christanson (goal, assist).

North had goals from Savanna Basford (assist) and Gia Mucci. Souhegan hosts Pinkerton and North visits Exeter on Monday.

BOYS TENNIS

MERRIMACK 7, LEBANON 2

Winning in singles were Leon Rossman (8-3), Jeremy Nigen (8-4), Drew Bergen (8-3), Patrick MacIsaac (8-4) and Ben DaSilva (8-2). Rossman/Nigen (9-7) and Bergen/MacIsaac (8-0) won in doubles. Merrimack (5-3) hosts Coe-Brown on May 4.

GOFFSTOWN 5, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 4

The Cavs (7-1) drop their first contest of the season when the Grizzlies came to town. John Torpey (8-3), Samuel Pistor (8-5) and Eli Mazzola (8-5) won in singles. Greyson McSeveney/Mazzola (8-0) picked up the lone win in doubles. HB hosts Souhegan on May 4.

SOUHEGAN 9, CONVAL 0

The Sabers (2-6) end their three game losing streak by sweeping ConVal. Winners in singles competition were Brian Goddard (8-1), Parker Schade (8-1), Patrick Bryson (8-0), Broke Keener (8-2) and Rylan Aiston (8-5). Goddard/Schade (8-1), Bryson/Keener (8-0) won in doubles. Souhegan visits Hollis Brookline on May 4.

GIRLS TENNIS

SOUHEGAN 9, CONVAL 0

Callie Perrin (8-2), Ori Dart (8-2), Sophia Yates (8-1), Emma Perrin (8-1), Marriellah Dart (8-1) and Elli Brower won in singles. Doubles winners were Callie Perrin/ Ori Dart (8-2), Emma Perrin/Marriellah Dart (8-0) and Yates/Brower (8-0). Souhegan hosts Hollis Brookline on May 4.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6, MANCHESTER WEST 3

The Cavs (5-2) snag their second win in a row on a windy Friday afternoon. Maddie Barich (9-8), Bianca Campanella (8-3), Jade Lacasse (8-3), Jenny Brodmerkle (8-0) and Aliza Earle (8-5) won in singles competition. The team of Earle/Brodmerkle won 8-0. HB visits Souhegan on May 4.
