HS Roundup: BG lax sweeps Windham, South girls top ‘Hawks

The warmer weather returned and so did Bishop Guertin lacrosse in a big way as both the Cardinal boys and girls teams beat Windham. And the area’s best kept secret the Hollis Brookline baseball team, won again. And you have to check out the HB-Milford softball score:

BOYS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 13, WINDHAM 3

Jack Redfern (three goals, four assists) and Owen King (three goals, two assists) led the Cards offense while Jonah Feliciano had five saves, Jordan LeClair three and Mason Lallamend five in goal for BG. Sampson San and Will Osborn had about an 80 percent faceoff rate.

KINGSWOOD 10, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9

Mike O’Hearn had five goals to lead the Cavs, while Tyler Allen paced the defense in front of goaltender Levi Mitchell (14 saves).

Sam Petrella and Bennett Torgersen had two goals each whle Oliver Spencer added a goal and Bryce Cote also played well.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 9, MERRIMACK 8

Another gritty win for the Panthers thanks to a Carly Benzekri goal with about four minutes left.

Lexi McGuire had two goals and two assists while Gemma Williams had a goal and an assist. Briley Lansteiner (goal), Wylie Hart (two assists) also helped out. Defensively, Maddie Langer, Nicole DeJesus and Hailey Cote played well defensively in front of goalie Emma Herlihy (seven saves).

BISHOP GUERTIN 14, WINDHAM 6

The Cards got six goals, an assist and 13 draw controls from Lola Dumont. Keylee Cruikshank had six goals as well, while Sophia Harrington an Charlotte Accomando each had a goal.

BASEBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 12, MILFOR 2

Matthew Bergin led a Cavalier 10-hit attack with three hits, including a double. Keenan Myers also had three hits while Connor Gryniewicz had two hits while getting the win on the mound allowing two runs on three hits over five innings, striking out six and walking three.

For good measure, the Cavs stole five bases, with Myer getting two steals.

SOFTBALL

MILFORD 28, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 21

No, this wasn’t a football game. The Spartans had 10 hits, led by Nadia Dutton (three hits, three RBIs. Alivia Mazzeo had two hits while Arianna Wales and three hits and three RBIs. Raiyne Bailey had a hit and three RBIs.

In the circle, Alivia Mazzeo got the win allowing five hits while striking out nine.

HB led at one point 7-4. Lindsey Emmons and Madelyn Sinclair had triples, while Kendall Dunn, Emma Flynn and Brooklynn Olszewski each had doubles. HB catcher Megan Eckman caught the entire game and got the lead runner at one point at the plate.

GIRLS TENNIS

BISHOP GUERTIN 9, SPAULDING 0

The Cards good season continues as singles winners were Georgie Howell (8-3) Dayana Cottito (8-0), Ainsley Flood (8-0), Faith Hebert (8-1), Natana Fernandez (8-2) and Elise Rockwell (8-1).

Howell/Cottito (8-2), Flood/Hebert (8-0), and Fernandez/Rockwell (8-2) all won.

HANOVER 6, NASHUA SOUTH 3

The Panthers got only two singles wins, one by Gowri Akkineni 8-2 and Soha Patel (9-8, 7-2) and a win at No. 2 doubles 9-7 by Ananya Arun/Akkineni.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, PEMBROKE 4

The Cavs pulled out a clutch win with two doubles victories after getting singles wins by Anna Heiplik (8-0), Max Walsh (9-8) and Carlie Holt (8-5).

Heiplik and Walsh (8-5) plus Sapp Sidhu/Maddie Barich (9-7) got the needed wins.

BOYS TENNIS

GOFFSTOWN 9, ALVIRNE 0

The Broncos were swept, although Dimitri Asikis was competitive at No. 6 singles with an 8-3 loss. The rest of the lineup won a combined six games.
