There is a way to stay warm when at a lacrosse game when it’s 40 degrees out: Play five overtimes. That’s what the Nashua High School South girls did on Wednesday.

GIRLS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 8, WINDHAM 7 (5 OT)
Carly Benzekri (five goals, 15 draw controls) put an end to the marathon as she was able to sneak it by the goalie in the fifth overtime.
Lexi McGuire, Briley Landsteiner and Gemma Williams all had a goal for the Panthers (4-1). Emma Herlihy stopped seven shots in the win.
Nicole DeJesus, Maddie Langer, Hailey Cote, Bella Hwalek and Nitzann Alkalay led the defense. South visits Merrimack on Thursday.
BOYS LACROSSE
NASHUA NORTH 20, SALEM 13
Nico Bottari found the back of the net five times in the Titans (1-3) first win of the season. Dylan Noble scored four goals; while Gavin Dugan and Nick Wilkinson tallied three apiece. Josh Parsons made 13 saves. North visits Keene-Monadnock on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 16, PEMBROKE 6
Nate Hill (five goals, three assists) and Jud Harris (five goals, two assists) recorded eight and seven points respectively in the Sabers (2-2) win. Collin Yeaton tallied two goals, Mason Mobley had two goals and two assists and Sean Reardon made seven saves. Souhegan visits Hollis Brookline on Friday.
BASEBALL
BEDFORD 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 2
The Cardinals fall to 1-3 after their loss to the Bulldogs on the road. Nate Bowen took the loss pitching four innings and allowing three runs on three hits and striking out two. Joe Moniz struck out two and gave up one hit in two innings of relief. Tyler Parks had two hits including a double and Ben Geiger added a hit and a RBI. BG hosts Nashua North on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLIE 6, PELHAM 1
The Cavs (4-0) win their fourth straight and their home opener when they hosted the Pythons. Ian Sinclair was dominant on the mound striking out 18 batters, while surrendering two hits and one run over seven innings. Keenan Myers (double, RBI), Connor Gryniewicz (single, RBI), Jordan Morelli (two hits) and Renzo Bergskaug (hit, two RBIs) were great at the plate. HB hosts Milford on Thursday.
CAMPBELL 3, BELMONT 2
The Cougars (4-1) get by the Red Raiders in a tightly contested pitcher’s duel. Braydon White led the offense with three hits, including a solo home run in the first inning. Michael Grace hit an RBI double in the seventh inning that would give Campbell the lead. Grace pitched five innings and allowed two runs and struck out seven. Aidan Kepple closed the door in relief with two scoreless innings and striking out three. The locals collected 12 hits in the contest. Campbell visits Prospect Mountain on Friday.
DOVER 9, NASHUA NORTH 1
The Titans have had a tough stretch facing the Division I contenders, dropping their third straight (1-3). They’ll face off against Bishop Guertin Friday night at Holman Stadium.
SOFTBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 15, ALVIRNE 1
The Panthers (2-3) win decisively to keep the Broncos (0-4) winless. Nicki Gates led the way collecting three hits and four RBIs. Cate Marvin (single, RBI), Shirley Njau (single, RBI) and Maliyah Richer-Valentin (double, RBI, stolen base) played well offensively. Cate Marvin struck out 13 batters and allowed five hits and one run over six innings.
Alvirne’s Claire Gonthier took the loss giving up six runs on four and striking out two in two innings. Olivia Burtt started the game and allowed nine and nine runs and struck out five in four innings. Ryleigh Dressel had two hits for the Broncos.
South hosts Concord on Friday and Alvirne visits Windham on Thursday.
LONDONDERRY 4, MERRIMACK 1
The Tomahawks held a 1-0 lead, until the Lancers exploded for four runs in the fifth innings. Cam Bellen had two hits and Rachel Garrison added a hit and a RBI. Marissa Nelson gave up only six hits in the loss. Merrimack hosts Manchester Central-Memorial on Friday.
PELHAM 18, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1
The Cavs (0-2) were no match for the Pythons in the home opener. Nina Giguere made her varsity debut in the circle. Madelyn Sinclair (double, RBI), Emma Flynn (double), Jenna O’Connor (hit) and Lindsey Emmons (two hits, run, stolen base) played well for the locals. HB hosts Milford on Thursday.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
SALEM 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0
The Cavs (1-3) fell to the Blue Devils by the score of 15-25, 20-25, 23-25. Playing well in the effort were Jameson Evelyn with (10 kills), Ben LeClerc with (four kills), Zac Wu (10 service points, 22 assists), Danigan Koenig and Liam Gagne. HB visits Londonderry on Friday.
BOYS TENNIS
BISHOP GUERTIN 6, WINDHAM 3
The Cards improved to 3-2 by winning two of three doubles after taking four singles. Singles winners were No. 1 Jack Kostansek (8-5), Maxx Lizotte (8-5), Jaxson Deyak (8-1) and Mason Chen (8-5).
Kostansek and Deyak at No. 1 (8-5) and Lizotte/Andre Steinruck (8-4) at No. 3 doubles helped give BG the win.
MERRIMACK 5, PLYMOUTH 4
The Tomahawks pulled out a win at No. 2 doubles with Leon Rossman/Jeremy Nigen (8-1) getting the job done.
That with their four singles wins at Nos. 1 through 4 by Mikhail Agapov (8-3), Rossman (9-7), Nithin Sathappan (8-0) and Nigen (8-4) helped the ‘Hawks get back over .500 at 4-3.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8, COE-BROWN 1
The Cavaliers remained unbeaten as they not only swept singles but didn’t lose a game in that part of the match.
Winners all by 8-0 were Arjun Inakollu, John Torpey, Samuel Anthony, Samuel Pistor, Greyson McSeveney, and Aidan Curley.
Inakollu/Anthony (8-1) and Torpey/Pistor (8-1) won in doubles.
GIRLS TENNIS
BISHOP GUERTIN 8, WINDHAM 1
The Cards swept singles, losing just two games, to clinch early. Winners by 8-0 scores were Anna Perrott, Georgie Howell, Jackie Kriscunas, Dayana Cottito, and Ainsley Flood. Lydia Miller won 8-2.
Cottito/Flood (8-0) and Faith Hebert/Elise Rockwell (8-0) both won in doubles.
PINKERTON 8, NASHUA NORTH 1
There were a lot of close ones in this matchup, but the Titans lone win came from Aleena Rath in singles.
DERRYFIELD 9, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Panthers had a tough day against the Division I power, but Krina Dani managed two game wins in her match at No. 2 singles, and Aranya Arun played a close one at No. 4, bowing 8-5.
