HS Roundup: Saber girls tennis, BG girls lax roll; South has two track triples

The Souhegan High School girls tennis team continued its roll through Division II in the Tuesday chill, while the Bishop Guertin girls lacrosse team snapped a two-game skid with an expected romp at Stellos Stadium.

Details on all that and a few more results, including some track and field as Nashua South had a pair of triple winners on a light Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

SOUHEGAN 9, GOFFSTOWN 0

The Sabers lost just six singles games in their sweep, with Callie Perrin (8-2), Ori Dart (8-0), Sophia Yates (8-2), Emma Perrin (8-0), Mariella Dart (8-1) and Elli Brower (8-1) all cruising.

Callie Perrin/Ori Dart won 8-3, Emma Perrin/Mariella Dart won 8-1 and Kayden Merrian/Lili Blase did the same at 8-3.

Souehgan hosts ConVal on Friday.

BOYS TENNIS

PORTSMOUTH 7, MERRIMACK 2

The Tomahawks (3-3) managed two singles wins but it wasn’t enough. Coming out on top for Merrimack were Nithin Sathappan at No. 3 (8-3) and Jeremy Nigen at No. 4 (8-6).

Merrimack hosts Plymouth today at Wasserman Park.

GOFFSTOWN 8, SOUHEGAN 1

The Sabers (1-6) managed just a win at No. 1 doubles by Brian Goddard and Parker Schade.

Souhegan visits ConVal on Friday.

BOYS LACROSSE

MERRIMACK 15, KEENE-MONADNOCK 1

The Tomahawks got four goals and an assist from Cayden Dine, plus three goals and three assists from Shea Scott to improve to 3-1.

Sean Anderson and Josh Kahn (each two goals, assist), Austin Kovaliv (goal, two assists), Gabe Gorman (goal, three assists), plus Gavin Hickey and Reid Guidish (goal each) also all contributed.

So did goalie Mason Tremblay (17 saves), Reid Guidish (faceoffs) and Tanner Kush (good defense in his first start). Merrimack is at Londonderr on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 13, MERRIMACK VALLEY 5

The Sabers (1-2) picked up their first win of the season thanks to a five-goal first quarter. Jud Harris was a scoring machine with seven goals and an assist, while Nate Hill added three goals and two assists. Freshmen Owen Mobley and Collin Yeaton scored their first career goals while Mobley added two assists. Mason Mobley also had a goal and an assist.

Sean Reardon had eight saves in goal for the Sabers, who host Pembroke today.

GIRLS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 18, MANCHESTER CENTRAL-WEST 4

Kaylee Cruikshank had a hat trick while BG also got scoring from Leah O’Block, cKensey Roedel and Charlee Priest, all first career goals.

BG is at Windham on Thursday.

BOYS & GIRLS TRACK

SOUTH BOYS THIRD, GIRLS SECOND

Bedford (105 points boys, 138.5 girls) took both meets while the South girls were second at 72.5 and the boys third at 66. Londonderry (73) was second and Manchester Central (20) fourth in the boys meet while the Lancers were third (41) and Central fourth (12) in the girls.

Emma Millette was a triple winner, with firsts in the in the 100 hurdles (17.51), pole vault (10-0), and triple jump (32-1). Other winners for the South girls were Camrin Ayi in the 400 (1:01.79) and Sarah Witta in the long jump (15-5).

Diamond Perry was second in both the 100 and 200, while Vanessa Ortiz Cuevas was second in the discus (97-3).

In the boys meet, South got a triple winner as well as Preston Bois triumphed in the 110 hurdles (15.98), pole vault (13-0), and triple jump (41-7). They also got wins by Jayden Toussaint in the 200 (24.14), Isaiah Rodriguez in the 800 (2:03.10), and Collin Langer in the discus (125-1).
