HS Track: South boys win at Pelham; North boys, girls, second at Eastman

Saturday was a great early season day for local track teams from Nashua. The Nashua High School South boys edged Alvirne 74-72 to capture the Pelham Invitational while Nashua North boys and girls track teams both finished second at the John Eastman Invitational Meet at Souhegan High School on Saturday, an event packed with local teams.
PELHAM INVITATIONAL
BOYS
There were just two local teams but they went toe-to-toe. For South, winners included the 4×800 relay team of Isaiah Rodriguez, Sriam anga, Prana Dasari and Matthew Motherway in 8:50.02 plus Preston Bois in the triple jump at 42-10.
South’s depth prevailed as other Panther highlights included Ryan Jansen second in the 200 (23.46); Rodriguez second in the 800 (2:03.53), and Sawyer Penny second in the javelin (156-06).
Alvirne got wins by Joey Marcotte in the 110 hurdles (15.33), 300 hurdles (40.47) and long jump (21-01.75) Marcotte was also on the winning 4×100 relay team with Sam Oquit, JadenTayuler and Jeremiah Caraballo-Sophos (44.29). Charles Barrett took the shot put at 45-04 and was second in the discus (142-05).
GIRLS
Nashua South was third at 44 while Bedford won the meet with 98 points followed by Coe-Brown (73). Alvirne was 11th with 18 points.
South’s Pearl Nelson won the triple jump in 31-05.75. Sara Witta was second in the 400 (1:03.12) while the 4×400 relay team of Witta, Lyla Ali, Auden King and Emma Millette was second (4:25.20)
For Alvirne, Oliva Cartagena was second in the 1600 (5:28.39).
EASTMAN INVITATIONAL
Pinkerton won the boys meet with 176 points, while North had 101. Keene (54) was third while host Souhegan (43) was fourth and Bishop Guertin and Merrimack tied for fifth at 37.
Milford was ninth at 21.
In the girls, Pinkerton won at 140.75, followed by North with 86. Portsmouth was third at 63.75, just ahead of Bishop Guertin (61) in fourth. Keene (57) was fifth, while Hollis Brookline (40) took sixth, ahead of seventh place Milford. Merrimack was eighth (28.75), Campbell ninth (10). Host Souhegan was 13th.
BOYS MEET
North winners included Gavin Suchecki in the high jump at 6-2, Jose Marcano in the discus at 135-2, Bunhour Chea in the 800 (2;05.06),
Other Titan highlights included Dominick Coffie second in the shot put, Kobe Perry second in the both the 100 (11.7) and 200 (22.95) and Ryan Mamos second in the 800.
Souhegan’s Owen Pisinski was second in the pole vault (12-6). Bishop Guertin’s Sam Woodward captured the javelin at 141-7; Merrimack got a second in the long jump from Steven Doyle(19-10).
Milford was second in the 4×100 relay (Josh and Matt Pettingell, Ethan Morin, Ky-Mani Velez-Boggis.)
GIRLS MEET
Titan winners were Abigail Azevedo in the high jump (5-2), Allie Dandeneau in the long jump (16-1.75), Sarah Frye in the triple jump (33-7.50), Allie Frye in the 300 hurdles (46.80), and Rosie Neveu in the 800 (2:20.88). The Titans vaunted 4×400 team of Charlotte Wilson, Neveu, Allie Frye and Azevedo also won in 4:06.09.
Other North highlights: Allie Frye second in the 100 (12.99); Dandeneau, Azevedo, and both Fryes second in the 4×100 relay,
Merrimack got a second in the triple jump by Cassandra Jimeno (32-0), a third by Josephine Swisher in the 100;
Bishop Guertin got a win by Zoe Coler in the 3200 (11:36.72), a second by Jaylyn Paul in the 3200, two thirds from Noelle Gauthier (discus, shot, and the 4×800 foursome of Lyla Masson Shannon Forsyth, Coler and Anna Sinclair was second.
Hollis Brookline’s Grace Dow won the 100 hurdles in 15.50 as well as the 200 in 27.01; Mae Butler was third in the 3200.
Milford’s Zoe Rick took the discus at 96-8.
