SIMPLY THE BEST: Milford’s Hansen Division II Player of Year

Shea Hansen saved her best for last as she wound up her Milford High School girls basketball career by recently being named the Division II All-State Player of the Year by the New Hampshire Basketball Coaches Organization (NHBCO).

The senior guard was the Division’s leading scorer with 18.4 points a game in 21 games, including the regular season, one postseason and two holiday tournament games. She had 40 3- pointers, was 74.2 percent from the foul line, had 61 steals and 42 assists.

Hansen, who will be headed to Coast Guard Academy and will, according to her Spartans coach, Mike Davidson, play basketball there. She was also on the NHBCO’s All Academic team.

In addition to Hansen, Hollis Brookline junior Samantha Disco was named the Jack Ford Scholar Athlete while Cavaliers coach Heidi Moore shared Coach of the Year honors with Pembroke’s Noah Cunningham, and HB JV coach Janessa Lofton was the Sub-Varsity Coach of the Year.

The Cavs’ Anna O’Donnell was on the First Team while local Honorable Mentions went to Souhegan’s Zofia Rosenfield and Nayaa Dineshkumar, plus HB’s Samantha Disco. HB’s Brooke Bouchard and Souhegan’s Lanai Hickman were on the Division II All-Defensive team.

In Division I, Nashua South’s John Bourgeois was named Coach of the Year while Nicole De Jesus was the lone local First-Teamer, and was also on the All-Defensive Team.

Local Honorable Mentions went to Bishop Guertin’s Thalia Drapeau, Nashua North’s Angie King, Nashua South’s Maggie Gallagher, and Merrimack’s Meghan McCarthy.

First Team – Samantha Sullivan, Londonderry; Emma Smith, Concord Christian; Sarah Muir, Bedford; Nicole De Jesus, Nashua South; Brooke Benz, Pinkerton; Gemma Murray, Londonderry.
