Bishop Guertin wins Division I boys hockey championship
MANCHESTER — The Bishop Guertin High School boys hockey team captured the NHIAA Division I championship on Saturday night, edging No. 1 Concord 1-0 on Jordan O’Hearn’s goal from left wing at 6:31 of sudden death overtime.
The Cards somewhat avenged a 2-1 loss to the Crimson Tide (22-2) in last year’s title that went into the fourth overtime.
Guertin ends its season 20-1, and defense was a key to the win, with the Cards holding the Tide and its prolific offense to just 18 shots on goal.
