MORE TOURNEY TEAMS: Division II hoop, plus all hockey pairings set

The NHIAA boys hockey as well as Division II girls and boys basketball tourney pairings are out, and here’s what to look for as the tourney season continues tonight:
The immediate highlight for Division II hoop may be Wednesday’s all-local girls prelim between one of the area’s hottest teams, No. 5 Hollis Brookline (14-4) and No 12 defending champion Milford (7-11) at HBHS at 6 p.m. The Cavs have won 11 in a row.
Tonight in Division II boys, Milford will be at Manchester West. On Wednesday, Souhegan will be at Kingswood, as it is postponed tonight due to weather.
In hockey, both Bishop Guertin (Division I) and Alvirne-Milford (Division II) will be at Skate 3 on Saturday in their respective quarterfinals, with Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield on the road.
Note this: Hollis Brookline basketball, boys and girls combined, have won 29 straight games.
Here’s a look:
DIVISION II BOYS
Top seeded, unbeaten (18-0) Hollis Brookline doesn’t play until Friday, when it takes on the winner of No. 9 Oyster River (10-8) at Coe-Brown (11-7) in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, No. 11 Souhegan (10-8) is at No. 6 Kingswood (13-5) Wednesday and No. 14 Milford (6-12) is at No. 3 Manchester West (14-4) tonight. both listed as 6 p.m.
Souhegan would love another chance at Kingswood, losing in Wolfeboro at the buzzer, 52-51, on Feb. 19. Meanwhile, West beat host Milford 71-42 on Feb. 17.
The winners of the Souhegan and Milford games will face each other in Friday’s quarterfinals at 6 p.m.
The semis are Monday March 9 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Rochester Recreation Center, with the finals at UNH at noon on Sunday, March 15.
DIVISION II GIRLS HOOP
The other prelim round game Wednesday is No. 7 Souhegan (13-5) hosting No. 10 Oyster River (9-9). It will be the first home tourney game for the Sabers in several years, and they beat Oyster River at home 57-44 back on Jan. 30. The winner goes to Manchester to face No. 2 Derryfield (16-2) in the quarterfinals on Saturday. One of those two Cougar losses came at the hands of Souhegan, 38-33 back on Jan. 23.
The Spartans and Cavliers played each other just a week ago, with HB coming out on top 54-40 in Milford. The winner would take on the winner of No. 4 Pelham vs. No. 13 Sanborn on Saturday. The locals would host if Sanborn wins; they’d be at Pelham if the Pythons win.
The semifinals are Wednesday, March 11 at Exeter HS (5:30, 7:30 p.m.) with the finals on Saturday, March 14 at UNH at 12 p.m.
DIVISION I HOCKEY
The No. 3 Cards (13-5) will square off vs. No. 6 Keene (11-7) on Saturday, time tba. They handled the Blackbirds at Keene Ice 5-2 back on Jan. 21.
If BG wins it would play in the semis on Wednesday, March 11 at JFK Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. vs. either No. 2 Trinity, No. 7 Londonderry or No. 10 Hanover.
The finals are Saturday, March 14 at SNHU Arena, time tba.
DIVISION II HOCKEY
The Admirals are the area’s other winter top seed, finishing 14-4 and set to face No. 8 Somersworth-Coe-Brown (7-11), a team its beaten twice already (3-0, 6-1), Saturday at 6:10 p.m. at Skate 3 in Tyngsborough, Mass. A win and the would face either No. 4 Goffstown or No. 5 Spaulding in the semis on Wednesday, March 11 at Concord’s Everett Arena at 5 p.m.
MHBDS Saturday is at No. 2 St. Thomas of Dover (14-4) at, as of now, 4 p.m.at Dover Ice Arena. The WarHawks beat the Saints 3-1 at West Side Arena in Manchester back on Jan. 28.
If it wins, MHBDS would take on either No. 3 Oyster River or No. 6 Dover in the semis on March 11 at Everett Arena at 7:30 p.m.
