It was a hockey and basketball day locally Saturday with the wrestling and bowling championships moved to today.

Here’s a look at how the locals did on the ice and the court, with a possible record performance by an opposing player:

BOYS HOCKEY

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 7, TIMBERLANE-PELHAM 0

An incredible feat occurred at Skate 3 in Tyngsborough, Mass. in a losing cause and if statistically correct, it was a record performance for Timberlane-Pelham freshman goaltender Simon Hawkes, credited by scorekeepers with an astounding 90 saves. That would be a boys hockey state record.

“Nothing but respect for that kid,” Admirals coach Kathy Griswold said, her team now 12-4 despite the feat. “Hawkes was lights out.”

The Admirals got four goals by Luke Green, plus a pair by Brandon Callahan and goal and assist by Mason Tomkins.

Chris Bozza had two assists while singles went to Brandon Ganas, Ryan Sutton, Nathan Ricci and Jameson Thurott.

The performance is said to have shattered the state record of 57 saves in a single game while the national record is said to be 98 for boys hockey.

Kian Corcoran had to make just nine saves in getting the shutout, but he set a team record for victories, single season shutouts and career shutouts. Callahan became the latest Admiral to break the 100-point career mark (now with 101).

The Admirals host Portsmouth-Newmarket-Sanborn on Wednesday at Skate3.
