It was two up and two down for the area in high school boys hockey on Wednesday night.

Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield edged Nashua North-South in an all local battle at Manchester’s West Side Arena and Alvirne-Milford handled Goffstown at Saint Anselm’s Sullivan Arena for two Division II victors. But Bishop Guertin joined Nashua on the downside in falling to Windham at Skate 3 in Tyngsborough, Mass.

Also, the Campbell girls basketball team saw its season end in the Division III tourney. That plus news on a revamped schedule for today/tonight are in the area rundown:

BOYS HOCKEY

MHBDS 2, NASHUA NORTH-SOUTH 1

The WarHawks’ Alex May scored the game-winner in the second period as MHBDS vaulted over the .500 mark at 8-7-1, avenging an earlier loss last second to the Knights last month.

Bryson Smith, assisted by Zac Hallas, gave the WarHawks a 1-0 lead while Conor Prunier got a second period goal for the Knights, assisted by Bryce Stuart. Liam Gagne had 28 saves in goal for the ‘Hawks to get the win.

Nashua (3-12) hosts Winnacunnet on Saturday at Conway Arena, while MHBDS hosts Goffstown Saturday night at West Side Arena.

WINDHAM 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 1

The Cards (9-5) could only manage a first period goal by Cam Auger, assisted by Jack Menicci and Dom Trepanier, as they couldn’t solve Windham goalie Roberto Robles (37 saves).

Windham (10-6) got the go-ahead goal to snap a 1-1 tie in the second period and added an empty netter in the third.

BG’s Nico Scaparotti had 19 stops. BG has an out of state game at St. Joseph’s of Shelton, Conn.on Saturday.

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 6, GOFFSTOWN 1

Brandon Callahan and Dylan MacLeod each had a pair of goals as the Admirals improved to 11-4 and moved into second place in Division II.

Mason Tompkins (goal, assist) and Brandon Ganas (goal, two assists) also scored for A-M. Other assists went to Luke Green, Wyatt Pepin, and Chris Bozza. Kian Corcoran had 28 stops. Callahan, meanwhile, is at 99 career points.

The teams were tied 1-1 after one, but after the Grizzlies (10-5) couldn’t score on a 5-on-3, the Admirals took over.

“It just energized them, they (her players) just started throwing everything they could on net,” Alvirne-Milford coach Kathy Griswold said.

The Admirals host Timberlane-Pelham on Saturday.
