HS Roundup: South’s Crook tops local skiers; ‘Hawks beat Hawks

Nashua High School South’s Tommy Crook was the top local skier in the NHIAA Division I Alpine Ski Championships finishing eighth in the Giant Slalom in 1:25.76 and 19th overall in the Slalom in 1:23.14. Aat Gunstock. That qualifies him for the Meet of Champions.

Bishop Guertin’s Finley Bouvier was 28th in the Slalom in 1:28.09 and 19th in the GS in 1:19.05 Fellow Cardinal Connor O’Donnell was 34th in 1:31.24 in the Slalom and 29th in the GS in 1:22.06.

Team-wise, the overall meet was captured by Portsmouth with 744 points, topping second place Keene (743).

The four local teams all finished in one block: BG was 13th at 430, followed by South (14, 406), Nashua North (15, 387) and Merrimack (16, 311).

South’s Akhil Brommesetty was 68th in the Slalom, followed by Pragnya Aeron was 70th.

BG’s James Neal was 63rd.

Nashua North’s Max L’Italien was 47th in the Slalom, with Hunter Sullivan 48th and Jimmy Lombardi 51st. Merrimack’s Cooper Lelievre was 59th and Connor Streeter 60th.

In the GS, BG’s Pat Flood was 71st and James Neal 73rd. North’s Finn Larney was 44th and L’Italien 50th. South’s Logan Giltz was 77th.

Merrimack’s Trevor Shorette was 46th and Hunter Rousseau 48th.

BOYS BASKETBALL

MERRIMACK 48, EXETER 44

Nate Johnson recorded 22 points to help the Tomahawks (6-7) break their four game losing streak. Exeter held an early lead, but Merrimack took over in the first in didn’t look back. The locals kept the Blue Hawks in the game late as they went one for six at the free throw line in the final minutes. Merrimack visits Nashua South on Thursday.

COE-BROWN 82, MILFORD 71

The Spartans fall to 5-8 after their second straight loss on Tuesday, but it as the kind of game they like, up and down with plenty of points.

Milford, led by Tyer Constable’s 20 points, had four players in double figures as Ben Emerson had 17, Will Emerson 12 and Ethan Szopa 10.

Milford hosts ConVal on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

EXETER 54, MERRIMACK 19

The Tomahawks (3-11) struggled on the road as they visited the Blue Hawks. Merrimack visits Alvirne on Friday.
