DIVISION II TRACK: Saber boys take second, HB girls fourth

The Souhegan High School boys indoor track team had a fighting chance, but fell just short of a Division II championship at Plymouth State University.

The Sabers did take second, however, finishing with 50 points while Coe-Brown managed to win with 61. Last year’s champion, Miford, finished ninth with 16 while Hollis Brookline was 13th with 11.

In the girls meet, Oyster River topped second place Coe-Brown, 68-51, while Hollis Brookline was the top local with 39 points in fourth, just ahead of Souhegan (29) in fifth. Milford was 12th with 9, and Campbell was 23rd with two points.

DIVISION II BOYS

The Sabers captured the 4×200 relay with the foursome of Brody Smith, Ryan Stone, Owen Pisinski and John Katsel finishing in 1:34.27.

Smith, who won the high jump held a week earlier, was second in the 55 dash in 6.64 and second in the 300 in 35.17. Katsel was second in the long jump at 20-11.75, fifth in the 300 (36.86). Saber Owen Pisinski was sixth at 8.76 in the 55 hurdles. Saber Thomas Arnoldy was fifth in the 600 in 1:28.22.

Milford’s Grang Skorupan was second in the 1000 in 2:34.11; Josh Pettingell took fourth in the 300 (36.16).

Hollis Brookline’s Jacob Hoesch was second in the 600 in 1:26.59.Thomas Howie was sixth in the 1000 in 2:44.63. The foursome of Mason Fernandes, Devin Gomes, Matthew Howie and Thomas Howie were fifth in the 4×400 in 3:44.93.

DIVISION II GIRLS

HB’s Madelyn Sinclair was fifth in the shot put at 32. The Cavs’ Quinn Hardy was fourth in the 3000 in 11:26.71.

HB’s Grace Dow took third in the 300 in 8.70 and was fifth in the 55 dash in 7.60 seconds. The Cavs’ Molly Reardon took second in the 1000 in 3:11.23 while teammate Hannah LaPointe was sixth in 3:17.87.

The Sabers have state champs in Samantha Swanbon, who captured the 600 in 1:38.48, as well the 4×200 relay with the foursome of Ava Fisher, Emersynn Curran, Aryana Ghosh and Ori Dart finishing on top in 1:51.73. They just barely beat out Hollis Brookline, as the Cavs foursome of Madelyn Reardon, Livi Ward, Adrienne Thibault and Dow were second in 1:52.30.

Souhegan’s Anora Swanson was sixth in the long jump at 15-4.5, as was Ori Dart in the 300 dash in 44.49 seconds.

The Sabers’ 4×400 relay team of Emma Tapley, Brighton Smith, Bella Preston and Swanbon took third in 4:25.35.

Milford had Rachel Sixon finish fifth in the 1000 in 3:16.14. Rylee Coates was third in the 600 in 1:40.19.

Campbell’s Brianna Flanagan took fifth in the 3000in 11:31.47.
