HS Roundup: BG tops Merrimack; HB, Souhegan girls win

It was a busy Friday night even away from the Battle of the Bridge at Nashua North, which now stands at 6-4 in favor of the Titans. North also won the Co-Ed Unified Game over South 44-33.
But just across town, Bishop Guertin continued its run as a contender in boys basketball, and the Hollis Brookline and Souhegan girls picked up wins.

BOYS BASKETBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 68, MERRIMACK 51
The Cardinals (9-3) win their seventh straight game when the Tomahawks (5-5) came to town. Connor McGowan scored 16 points, Andre Steinbruick tallied 15, Luca Fabrizio added 11 and Eli Youssef had 10. Merrimack was led by Nate Johnson (12 points), Kyle Brander (11 points) and Owen Ponder (seven points). BG visits Manchester Memorial and Merrimack hosts Dover on Tuesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 56, CONVAL 43
The Cougars hung tough, trailing the unbeaten Cavs 21-19 at the half and 34-29 after three, but HB was able to pull away thanks to a 23-point effort by James Arthur and Alton Williams’ 17 points. Williams and Dylan Kelley led the HB defensive effort.
Now 11-0, HB visits Division I Timberlane on Tuesday.
OYSTER RIVER 59, SOUHEGAN 40
The Sabers (5-6) drop their third game in a row after visiting Oyster River. Wes Hickman scored 16 points in the loss. Souhegan visits Pembroke on Tuesday.
CAMPBELL 63, RAYMOND 39
The Cougars improved to 5-8 in Division III thanks in part to 19 points and 10 rebounds by Jayden Medina pus 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists by Jeremy Rafuse. Winners of three of their last four, the Cougars host Conant on Tuesday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 53, MERRIMACK 29
Ashleigh Baker had 14 points while Kayden Rioux had 11 and Olivia Baker nine as the Cards evened their record 6-6. Meg McCarthy led Merrimack with 11.
BG visits Archbishop Williams of Braintree, Mass. on Tuesday while the ‘Hawks, now 1-9, is at Dover.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 44, CONVAL 21
Ana O’Donnell had the hot hand for the Cavs (6-4) scoring 21 points in their win. Kendall Dunn tallied seven points, Ysabel Ramas had five — including a big half-court shot at the end of the third quarter — and Mya Blackman controlled the boards. HB hosts Hanover on Monday.
TRINITY 62, ALVIRNE 34
The Broncos (2-8) struggled at home to the visiting Pioneers on Friday night. Ochanya Adikwu scored 10 points, Lexi Floyd added nine and Julia Adams had five. Alvirne visits Nashua North on Wednesday.
PELHAM 64, MILFORD 41
The Spartans (3-6) held a 13-12 lead after the first quarter, but the Pythons wrapped around the locals for the rest of the contest. Shea Hansen knocked down 17 points and Lexi Bausha added 10 in the first quarter and then left the game with an injury and did not return. Jordyn Shaw tallied six points and Bella Ross chipped in with five. Milford visits John Stark on Monday.
SOUHEGAN 57, OYSTER RIVER 44
Brynn Siska (16 points, nine rebounds) and Nayaa Dineshkumar (12 points, eight rebounds) stacked the stat sheet in the Sabers (7-4) win. Lanai Hickman scored 10 points and Natalie Bryan added five and held the opponent’s best shooter to six points. Souhegan hosts Pembroke on Tuesday.
RAYMOND 35, CAMPBELL 20
The Cougars fall to 4-9 with their road loss on Friday. Katie Fluet had a great game collecting 10 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks. Kenzie Ripley scored five points and Zoe Bourque had three.
Campbell visits Conant on Tuesday.
