HS Roundup: Big wins for Knights, BG, plus Souhegan wrestling

If you were looking for a busy night on the high school sports front, Wednesday was your kind of evening.

The Nashua North-South Knights and Bishop Guertin boys got big wins on the ice, the Campbell girls got a big hoop win and there were wrestling matches galore, including a big dual meet win for Souhegan over Hollis Brookline.

Plenty here for you to take in:

BOYS HOCKEY

NASHUA 6, PORTSMOUTH-NEWMARKET-SANBORN 0

Brendon Reudt vonCollenberg had 18 saves for the shutout at the Dover Ice Arena while Adam Roberge had a hat trick and Brendon Doughty had two goals as the Knights improved to 2-8.

Brendan Skelley also had a goal while Jacoby Caissie, Jared Gauthier and Gavin Asimakopulos each had two assists.

Connor Prunier and Bryce Stuart also had an assist each. The Knights are at Alvirne-Milford Saturday at Skate 3.

BISHOP GUERTIN 8, MANCHESTER 2

The Cards beat the Kings to move to 5-3 thanks to two goals apiece by Jordan O’Hearn (with an assist) and Dom Trepanier. Jason Schultz, Gavin Santos (plus an assist), Cam Vaillancourt, and Tyler Tesak all scored a goal.

Assists went to Jack Menicci (three), Anthony Dobrutchi (two) and one each by Zach Chandonnet and Cam Auger.

BG hosts Bow Saturday at Skate 3.

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 6, SOMERSWORTH-COE BROWN 1

The Admirals (7-2) were able to shake off the rust of an 11-day break for their sixth straight win as Luke Green had two goals and an assist while Brandon Callahan had two goals. Brandon Ganas had a goal and two assists while Dylan MacLeod had a goal. Landon Briand and Riley McCarthy each had assists.

Kian Corcoran started and got the win in goal for the Admirals, who host the Nashua Knights Saturday at Skate 3.

MHBDS 3, ST. THOMAS 1

The WarHawks got a goal and an assist by Colin Hamlin, plus goals by Will Farrell and Alex May to improve to 6-5-1 with their third straight win.

Felix Rattunde and Ben Hazard each had assists and Liam Gagne had 44 saves to earn the shutout at Manchester’s West Side Arena. The WarHawks are at Goffstown next Wednesday.

GIRLS HOCKEY

BERLIN-GORHAM-KENNETT 10, SOUHEGAN-NASHUA 2

Briley Landsteiner had two goals and the Storm was in a 2-2 game before BGK erupted for eight straight paced by five Brooklyn Gange goals at Conway Arena.

Charotte Dezotell had 38 saves in goal for the Storm, who got assists from Anna Foley and Lily Helfand. S-N will host Salem Saturday at 4 p.m.

WRESTLING

SOUHEGAN 41, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 35

Two of the better programs met with the Sabers getting the overall win thanks to victories by Jack Kaler at 132 (pin), Landon Carson (17-5 major decision), Chase Knuckles at 144 (technical fall 15-2), Alex Sarfde at 150 (9-7 decision), Marcus Stout at 157 (20-2 tech fall), Patrick Casey at 175 (pin) and Micah Dibble at 190 (pin).

The Cavs wins were by Kyle Leclair at 106 (pin), Gillan Lujan at 113 (pin), Victor Lomme at 120 (pin), Scout Crea at 126 (15-0 tech fall), and Jacob Critchfied at 165 (pin).

SOUHEGAN 58, MANCHESTER WEST 21

Kaler at 138 (pin), Carson at 144 (pin), Chase Knuckles (9-1 md) at 150, Marcus Stout at 157 (pin), Dibble at 190 (pin) and Gabrie Holt at 215 (pin).

SALEM 66, NASHUA NORTH 16

The Titans got pins by Sebastian Ochoa at 126 and Tavyon Moore at 144, plus an 18-7 major decision at 150 by Kayden Vallerand-Kennealy

TIMBERLANE 70, NASHUA SOUTH 9

The Owls have always been powerful and they flexed their muscles, as South only got one forfeit plus a 12-5 decision by Benny Byrne at 157.

PORTSMOUTH 51, MERRIMACK 34

Tomahawk wins were by Sara Snavely at 120 (17-0 technical fall), Caleb Grandmaison at 132 (19-2 tech fall), Nicolin Stevens at 175 (pin).

GOFFSTOWN 55, BISHOP GUERTIN 21

The Cardinal winners were Austin Steinruck (11-0 major decision) at 132, James Algeo (pin) at 138, Jack Foster at 175 (19-4 tech fall) and Bishop Kearns at 285 (injury).

MILFORD 58, ALVIRNE 16

The Spartans good season continues as they got wins from Colton Schuster (tech fall 15-0) at 113, Max Hammerstrom at 126 (pin), Cam Stickney at 132 (tech fall 17-1), pins by Francisco Juvera at 138, Calix Lajoie at 144, Tanner Herbert at 150, Phillip Wright at 157, Jayce Wilhelmi at 165, and Jameson Noble at 285.

Alvirne got a pin by Mason Verrocchio at 106, an 11-6 decision by Joseph Lydon at 175, a 4-1 win by Quintin Tetreault at 190 and a 10-2 major decision by Marcus Bain at 215.

CAMPBELL 44, PELHAM 36

The Cougars were impressive with wins by Jack Turecki at 120 (pin), Timothy Turecki at 144 (major decision 15-2), Sage Anctil at 157 (13-5 md), plus five forfeits.

BOYS BASKETBALL

PINKERTON 71, ALVIRNE 55

The Astros pulled away in the second half despite 19 points from Bronco Garrett Hall, plus 11 by Angel Kangor. Alvirne is now 7-3 and will visit Trinity on Friday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CAMPBELL 46, NEWPORT 21

Katie Fluet had 16 points whie Mikayla Swanson had nine and Kate Silver added eight. Campbell, now 4-8, is at Raymond on Friday.
