HS Roundup: North, South, BG, Alvirne, HB hoop teams win

Want that winning feeling? You might be able to get that here as several local high school basketball teams came out on top on Tuesday night. Not all, mind you, but a good chunk of the area teams were smiling.

Here’s the rundown:

BOYS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 67, WINNACUNNET 59

The Titans (3-6) completed the comeback scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter after being down 41-40. Andre Kargbo paced the offense with 23 points as he had 16 in the fourth quarter while hitting 13 of 15 free throws during that span.

Tyson Hoang scored 16 and Josh Sullivan had 13. North visits Trinity on Friday.

NASHUA SOUTH 66, SALEM 56

The Panthers even their record at 4-4 with a road win over the Blue Devils. Daniel Karavanic (20 points), Francisco Rodriguez (17 points) and Rigo Challinger (11 points) led the way for the locals. South visits Portsmouth on Friday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 71, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 57

Connor McGowan tallied 26 points and Eli Youssef knocked down 20 to lead the Cardinals (6-3) to their fourth win in a row. Sam Woodward added to the offense scoring 12 points. BG hosts Exeter on Friday.

ALVIRNE 63, TIMBERLANE 46

The Broncos (6-2) handled the Owls to win their third straight game. Garrett Hall scored 16 points, Sean Chipfunde added 13 and Luke Norse had 10.

Alvirne hosts Concord on Friday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 75, JOHN STARK 30

James Arthur had a phenomenal night tallying 29 points in the Cavs (9-0) dominant win to stay undefeated. Marco Bergskaug (12 points), Alton Williams (10 points) and Dylan Kelley (seven points) contributed to the offensive outburst. HB visits Souhegan on January 27.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 58, WINNACUNNET 38

The Titans (5-2) hot streak continues with their fifth win in a row on Tuesday. Angie King and Lily Small scored 15 and 13 points respectively. Leading the defensive unit were Raegan Campbell, Evelyn Hebert and Alaina Small. North hosts Trinity on Friday.

TIMBERLANE 58, ALVIRNE 42

The Broncos (1-7) fell at home to the Owls on Tuesday night. Lexi Floyd had a team high 14 points; while Ochanya Adikwu, Julia Adams and Izzy Haven-Tate tallied six points apiece. Alvirne visits Concord Friday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 65, JOHN STARK 43

Ana O’Donnell netted 18 points in the Cavs (4-4) win on the road. Sam Disco (11 points), Kendall Dunn (nine points), Mya Blackman (eight points) and Payton Dunn (five points) added to the offense. Ysabel Ramas led the defensive unit. HB visits Hanover on January 26.

LACONIA 50, MILFORD 31

The Spartans (2-4) lost their fourth game in a row falling on the road to the Sachems. Shea Hansen knocked down two three-pointers and finished with 21 points, Maggie Pelletier and Jordyn Shaw each had five points. Milford visits Oyster River on Friday.

CAMPBELL 50, SOMERSWORTH 19

The Cougars (3-7) grab a big win after a two game skid. Kenzie Ripley collected 24 points to go with four steals. Katie Fluet added 10 points and Mikayla Swanson had six. Campbell visits Kearsarge on Friday.
