HS Hoop Roundup: Titan boys, Cardinal girls get first wins

The first Tuesday of January for local high school basketball was a night of firsts, and of schedule changes.
The Nashua North boys and Bishop Guertin girls captured their first regular season victories. Meanwhile, the schedule was shortened by four games as the Alvirne at Nashua South girl-boy doubleheader as well as Milford boys and girls hoop both home and away vs. Lebanon were postponed due to the poor weather.
Alvirne and South will play that twinbill tonight at 5:30 and 7, while Milford’s games with Lebanon were moved to Thursday.

BOYS BASKETBALL
NASHUA NORTH 65, CONCORD 32
The Titans (1-4) grab their first win of the season with a road win against Concord. Josh Sullivan scored 14 of his 17 points in the first quarter; Tyson Hoang added 12 and Connor Johnston controlled the boards. North visits Goffstown on Friday.
HANOVER 52, SOUHEGAN 40
The Sabers (3-2) fall to a stout Hanover squad at home. Sean Zerega led all scorers with 18 points, Wes Hickman scored nine and Evan Bernasconi added seven. Souhegan visits ConVal on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 55, SANBORN 41
The 5-0 Cavs jumped out to a 25-17 halftime lead and eventually pulled away with an 18-9 fourth quarter. Alton Williams was a monster, with 31 points, seven deflections and three blocks. James Arthur had nine points and Ben Leclerc added seven. HB hosts Bishop Brady Friday at 6 p.m.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 44, TRINITY 42
After four straight losses to start the season the Cardinals win a close matchup with Trinity. Hailey McGowan led the way with 16 points; Thalia Drapeau added 10 and Olivia Baker had eight. BG hosts Spaulding on Friday.
NASHUA NORTH 70, CONCORD 28
Alaina and Lily Small recorded 19 and 17 points respectively in the Titans (2-2) dominant win. Raegan Campbell contributed 11 points. North hosts Goffstown on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 42, SANBORN 24
Ana O’Donnell had the hot hand scoring 25 points in the Cavs (2-3) win on Tuesday. Brooke Bouchard added five points; while Payton Dunn, Ysabel Ramas and Ainslee Thompson led the defense. HB visits Bishop Brady on Friday.
SOUHEGAN 32, HANOVER 31
The Sabers (2-2) escape with a close win in a low scoring contest. Nayaa Dineshkumar scored nine points and ripped down 12 rebounds and Julia Skelton also added nine points. Souhegan visits ConVal on Friday.
ST. THOMAS 49, CAMPBELL 46
The Cougars (0-5) are still in search for their first win after a close loss to St. Thomas. Zoey Bourque tallied 14 points to lead all scorers. Kate Silver and Katie Fluet each scored seven points, while Mikayla Swanson and Kenzie Ripley added four points apiece. Amelia LaPlante played well on defense for the locals. Campbell hosts Conant on Friday.
