HS Roundup: Locals excel at Warrior Invitational Meet

The Holiday Tourney Trail continues for some and is over for others, so here’s a rundown of those who have reported in, including some great indoor track performances from Boston:

BOYS & GIRLS TRACK

LOCALS EXCEL AT WINTER WARRIOR INVITATIONAL

Several locals did extremely well at the event, held at the Track at New Balance in Boston.

For Nashua North, Bunhour Chea took first in the boys 600 in 1:28.09 while the foursome of Cole Burns, Owen Gagnon, Ryan Mamos and Chea took first in 8:34.38 in the 4×800 relay. Gavin Suchecki won the high jump at 6-4.

Jacob Griffin was fourth in the 55 hurdles; Cole Burns was the top local (14th) in the one-mile as was Ryan Mamos (14th) in the 1000. North’s Gavin Suchecki was 10th in the 300.

The Titans 4×200 team of Yaxiel Vaquez, Kobe Perry, Adriel Gonalez and Suchecki was fifth. North was fourth in the 4×400 with Tyson DiGiorgio, Asniel Urena, Ryan Hutchins and Sam Nardone.

Alvirne’s 4×200 team of Michael Landmesser, Joe Marcotte, Jaden Taylor and Shane Plumley was first in 1:33.97. Marcotte was second in the 55 hurdles (7.97) and seventh in the long jump. Alvirne was seventh in the 4×800

Souhegan’s Brody Smith captured the 300 dash in 35.53.John Katsel took fourth in the 55 dash (6.73) and Jacob Spencer took 14th in the two-mile.

The Sabers foursome of Katsel, Ryan Stone, Smith and Owen Pisinski was third in the 4×200. Katsel took third in the long jump at 21-0.5.

Merrimack’s Kaiden Okowuga was third in the high jump at 6-2.

In the girls event, Souhegan’s Samantha Swanbon captured the girls 600 meter run in 1:39.82 while Oriannah Dart was ninth in the 300. The Sabers 4×200 relay team of Zendaya Beamer, Emersynn Curran, Aryana Ghosh and Dart took sixth. The Sabers were seventh in the 4×800

Alvirne’s Olivia Cartagena was 10th in the one mile and Charlianna Downey 15th in the 1000. The Broncos were seventh in the 4×400

Hollis Brookline’s Mae Butler was seventh and Quinn Hardy was ninth in the girls two mile.

BOYS HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERIN 4, SALEM 2

The Cardinals wrapped up the Blue Devil Classic with a 3-0 rccord, beating Salem 4-2 in their last game Sunday of the round robin event.

Scoring for BG were Gavin Santos, Jordan O’Hearn, Cam Vaillancourt and Hugh Roark. Anthony Dobrutchi had two assists while other assists went to Jack Stone and Will McBournie.

Nico Scaparotti had 26 saves in goal for BG, now 5-0 overall and set to return to regular season play Saturday at Skate 3 vs. Vermont’s Rice Memorial.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

MIKE LEE HOLIDAY BASH

SOUHEGAN 53, COE-BROWN 45 (OT)

Julia Skelton had seven of her 15 points in overtime as the Sabers advanced to the tourney semifinals today at 3 p.m. vs. Belmont at Farmington High School.

The game was tied at 43 and Souhegan outscored CB 10-2 in the extra session. Nayaa Dineshkumar also had 15 or the Sabers. Mariellah Dart also won the tourney’s Skills Competition.

DOUG CHANDLER TOURNAMENT

FALL MOUNTAIN 34, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 26

The Cavs suffered injuries to Ana O’Donnell and Kendall Dunn early on, and were led by Sam Disco’s 12 points and 10 from Mya Blackman.

Ysabel Ramas and Harper DeBoisbriand also played well defensively. HB will play Goffstown at 4 p.m. today as the tourney winds down at Manchester West.

Cavs coach Heidi Moore said O’Donnell and Dunn should be back when HB returns to regular season play Friday.

WRESTLING

BIG RED TOURNEY

MILFORD FINISHES FIRST

The Spartans captured the tourney title in Tyngsborough, Mass. as Max Hammerstrom won the 126-pound division and they got four seconds: Colton Schuster (113), Phil Wright (157) Jace Wilhelmi (165) and Eli Wales (190). Kiki Lordan took third at 120.
