HS Roundup: Good night for Admiral hockey, Cougar hoop

It was a manic Monday on the high school level.
There were more games played than typically for a winter season Monday, with mixed results. But it was the boys high school hockey season opening night, and the Alvirne-Milford Admirals had smooth sailing to lead the way locally.
Here’s the rundown:
BOYS HOCKEY
ALVIRNE-MILFORD 7, LEBANON-STEVENS-MASCOMA 1
Luke Green had a hat trick and Dylan Macleod had a pair as the Admirals cruised at Hanover’s Campion rink. Landon Briand had a goal and two assists while Brandon Ganas had a goal and an assist as did Chris Bozza. Kian Corcoran got the win in goal.
MERRIMACK-HOLLIS BROOKLINE-DERRYFIELD 1, LONDONDERRY 1 (OT)
Alex May got the WarHawks’ lone goal, assisted by Tyler Allen, while goaltender Liam Gagne stood on his head at Manchester’s West Side Arena with 50 saves. His Lancer counterpart, Justin Doyle, had 41.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
BEDFORD 71, NASHUA NORTH 38
The Titans fell behind 29-3 at the start of the first quarter and never recovered in Bedford to fall to 0-2. Angie King had four 3-pointers to lead North with 14 points while Lilly Small added seven.
North hosts Dover on Thursday.
BOYS BASKETBLL
CAMPBELL 47, DERRYFIELD 37
The Cougars (1-1) got their first win of the season behnd Nate Federico (12 points, five rebounds, two steals) and Adam Correau (12 points, six rebounds).
Jeremy Rafuse (10 points, 10 rebounds, six assists) and Jayden Medina (10 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals) also were key contributors.
