HS Hoop Roundup: South girls, Alvirne teams lead win parade

It was an impressive start to the season for most local high school boys and girls basketball teams on Friday night.
While the Bishop Guertin girls and Nashua North boys had tough losses, the Nashua South girls, the Merrimack boys, the Souhegan and Alvirne boys and girls and others came up on the front end of their scores.
Here’s a look the first of many busy Friday night nights over the next two months:
BOYS BASKETBALL
PINKERTON 85, NASHUA NORTH 61
The Titans open the season with a road loss to the Astros. Josh Sullivan scored 16 points while Tyson Hoang and Andre Kargbo scored 13 apiece.
North hosts Bedford on Monday.
ALVIRNE 39, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 28
Garrett Hall and Sean Chipfunde collected 16 and 15 points respectively in the Broncos win, the first career Bronco win for new head coach Sam Bonney-Liles. Alvirne hosts Goffstown on Tuesday.
MERRIMACK 48, KEENE 47
The Tomahawks squeeze by the Black Birds after an up and down contest. Keene missed the game tying free throw with no time on the clock. Nate Johnson had the hot hand dropping 21 points.
Merrimack visits Timberlane on Tuesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 64, OYSTER RIVER 42
Alton Williams’ game high of 23 points led the way for the Cavs as they take down the Bobcats. James Arthur added 17 points and Will McCoy had 10. HB’s defense held Oyster River to only 15 points in the second half.
HB visits Pelham on Tuesday.
MILFORD 71, JOHN STARK 43
The Spartans offense was clicking as they open the season with a strong win. Tyler Constable (14 points), Will Emerson (13 points), Ben Emerson (12 points) and Maliki Bay (10 points) led the way for the locals.
Milford visits Kingswood on Dec. 19.
SOUHEGAN 63, LACONIA 55
Wes Hickman showed off his scoring abilities to start the season by the tallying 25 points. Joe Mayo scored 11 points and Sean Zerega had 10. Souhegan visits Bow on Tuesday.
FALL MOUNTAIN 63, CAMPBELL 46
The Cougars fall on the road on Friday night. Jeremy Rafuse collected 13 points and nine rebounds and Jayden Median recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds. Campbell visits Derryfield on Monday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 60, GOFFSTOWN 28
Chase Challinger and Nicole DeJesus Roman scored 15 and 13 points respectively in the Panthers win. Maggie Gallagher added to the offense with 10 points. South visits Pinkerton on Tuesday.
CONCORD CHRISTIAN 60, BISHOP GUERTIN 35
The Cardinals fall at home to open the season. Thalia Drapeau scored 10 points and Hailey McGowan had seven. BG hosts Londonderry on Wednesday.
ALVIRNE 56, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 35
Lexi Floyd put up 22 points in the Broncos win. Julia Adams had a good night scoring 12 points. Alvirne visits Goffstown on Tuesday.
OYSTER RIVER 43, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 27
Kendall Dunn had a team high 11 points in the Cavs loss. HB hosts Pelham on Tuesday.
SOUHEGAN 57, LACONIA 34
Zofia Rosenfield tallied 19 points and five steals to lead the Sabers to a big opening night win. Julia Skelton (10 points, six rebounds) and Mariellah Dart (nine points, five steals, five assists) added to the locals win. Souhegan hosts Bow on Tuesday.
FALL MOUNTAIN 56, CAMPBELL 19
The Cougars have a little trouble to start the season on Friday. Kate Silver and Katie Fluet scored six points apiece followed by Mikayla Swanson with three. Kenzie Riley, Amelia LaPlante and Zoe Bourque played well in the loss. Campbell visits Hopkinton on Wednesday.
