The Souhegan High School football team got a head start on the post season with a regular-season ending Thursday night win.
Quarterback Michael Fiengo threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Sabers beat local rival Hollis Brookline, 35-0 in the rain at Calvetti Field.
The 9-0 defending champion Sabers can now catch their breath for a couple of days before getting a look at the post season picture in Division II.
As for the Cavaliers, they finish their first season under new coach Pat Gendron at 2-7, but they developed into a competitive team as the season went on.
But last night the Sabers just had too much depth. Besides Fiengo’s contributions, Aidan Reardon scored his first career varsity TD.
Ryland Raudelunas had a rushing touchdown while Brody Smith had a receiving TD and Liam Bright enjoyed an interception return for a score.
Defensively, Mason Mobley forced a fumble that was recovered by Lucas Steckbeck.
