It’s a busy high school week locally and it starts with one of the busiest Tuesdays of the fall.

In fact, there’s a chance a state championship — or two – could be won by area teams today.

First, this is the week for the Nashua North and South boys-girls soccer doubleheaders at Stellos Stadium. They played each other last year, but all at separate times as Stellos was closed for repairs.

But they’re back, and start off with perhaps the biggest game in the area for the season: The unbeaten BG boys vs. the unbeaten South boys today at 4 p.m.

Also today Bishop Guertin (Division I) and Souhegan (Division II) vie for their respective titles. The Sabers are defending champions in Division II, and with a pair of Division III titles before that, are looking for a golf fourpeat. The event is at Mount Washington Resort and starts at 10 a.m. Souhegan is the top seed at 26-1, while Portsmouth (27-2) will give the Sabers a fight.

In Division I, Bishop Guertin has a chance to win the crown at Canterbury Woods beginning at 9 a.m.. The Cards finished as the second seed at 21-2, while Bedford is the favorite with a 25-0 match record.

And at the end of the week, the area’s top two field hockey teams will finish the regular season against each other, Division II defending champion Hollis Brookline at HB’s stadium Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Here’s a look by sport:

SOCCER

Today’s 4 p.m. game is the local Game of the Year in boys soccer. The Panthers (11-0-1) have been led by a hungry group with a fast style, as Damien Rodrigues and Kevin Araujo set the pace along with a host of others. They’ve won 11 straight after tying Bedford 2-2 in the season opener, and head coach Tom Bellen didn’t think he had this type of team going in. “I’m a believer,” he said.

Guertin, meanwhile, is 9-0-2, started the year out 8-0, then two ties (Windham, Hanover) until beating Salem last Thursday. BG is led by senior midfielder Trenton Cormier, and senior back Liam Ireland had a hat trick last week. It’s a group that is reaping the benefits of two or three years of growing pains. Should be a beauty. BG then gets North on Thursday in the nightcap at 6 p.m. The Titans have struggled (2-8-2), but they played Bedford to a scoreless tie last Thursday led by defender Sevastian Arango in front of keeper Logan DeLeon. Their game scheduled for Monday at Timberlane was rescheduled for Oct. 23.

Bishop Guertin’s Ava Suech, left, and Nashua North’s Sarah Frye compete for the ball during last year’s Division I quarterfinal at Rivier’s Merrill Field. On the girls side, today at Stellos at 6 the struggling Nashua South Panthers (1-6-5) take on the contending Cards (11-1-1), who suffered their only loss to Pinkerton and tied Winnacunnet. Guertin has depth, led by Zoe Horton-Sousa, while South has been riddled by injuries and has relied on youth, which will help the Panthers down the road the way it helped the BG boys. South has lacked scoring but keeper Corrine Rivera has held the fort in four scoreless ties. And the Panthers nearly upset North.

The girls Game of the Year will be on Thursday at 4 p.m. when Nashua North, which knocked off Bedford 2-1 this past Saturday, takes on the Cards at Stellos. Many will remember the classic the two played in the Division I quarterfinals last fall at Rivier’s Joanne Merrill Field, won by North on a penalty kick by Sarah Frye in that phase of the extra session. Frye and twin sister Allison will be keys for the 10-1 Titans, winners of nine straight. They have a game today at winless Manchester Memorial while BG is idle until Thursday.

GOLF

Guertin has been paced all season long by the likes of, among others, Owen Murphy, Chase Brisebois, Maria Tribou, Joe Hebert, and Aaron Ackerman in the first season of Jason Malcolm as head coach. They lost to the Bulldogs by two shots in a meeting earlier this season, their only loss of the year.

“We have a lot of talent, we just have to execute at the state,” Malcolm said. “A good season for the team.”

Guertin is the only Division I team competing. However, the other Division I locals, Nashua North, South and Merrimack, can send two golfers to compete as the day is also the first round of the Division I individual tournament as well.

South has Brendan Doughty and Will McKenney; Conor Prunier and Dawson Bolton will represent North, and Drew Peretti/Danny Lavigne for Merrimack.

As for the Sabers up at Mount Washingon (10 a.m. start), they’ll be paced by Matt Nowak, Jacob Wilson,, Ian Kaveney, Sean Zerega, Patrick Bryson, Landon Carson, Ethan Gaudet, and Joe Mayo, among others. Hollis Brookline will also be competing, led by Ben George, Matt Howie, and John Reichard, among others. Alvirne and Milford did not qualify for team play but their golfers are Luke Norse and Aidan Chandonnet (Alvirne) and Jack Bastarache for Milford.

FIELD HOCKEY

The game Friday in Hollis should be a doozy as well. HB (11-2-1) has been paced by the likes of Anna McGurk and Caroline Crawford and a host more, while riding a nine-game unbeaten streak. They have no easy game Wednesday at home vs. Plymouth, either. Souhegan has had quite the season at12-1-1 and is at ConVal today. The Sabers have been very deep, led by Mariellah and Ori Dart plus players like Ella Normandin.

MONDAY FIELD HOCKEY

PINKERTON 4, BISHOP GUERTIN 2

The Cards dropped their fourth straight, falling to 7-8, despite two goals by Addison Dadonna in the damp conditions at Stellos Stadium.

BG wraps up the regular season at Londonderry on Wednesday.
