HS Roundup: BG volleyball wins; North, South, BG field hockey play tough but fall

Wednesday was an indoors kind of day, right? Well the Bishop Guertin High School girls volleyball team would agree while local outdoor teams would too, as most had a hard time.
Let’s take a look:
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 3, MERRIMACK 0
Alissa Maillet and Avery Zapenas played well defensively in a 25-14, 25-16, 25-15 Cardinal sweep as BG improved to 7-1, winners of five straight.
Avary Cruz had five kills while Mia Cruz (nine digs) and Leah Monroe (three kills, nine digs) to help the ‘Hawks, now 2-9.
FIELD HOCKEY
WINDHAM 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 1
Addison Dadonna had the Cards’ lone goal as they fell to 6-3. BG takes on Keene at Stellos Stadium on Monday.
MERRIMACK 2, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Tomahawks were clinging to a 1-0 lead with 2:55 left before getting one more goal for insurance. Meury Navarette had 21 saves in goal for Nashua South.
Allie Wyand had a goal and an assist while Jocelyn Theriault had a goal. Annabelle Cassetty had two saves in the Tomahawk goal. Now 3-6-1, Merrimack is at Windham next Wednesday.
Also playing well for the Panthers were Emme Christian, Maggie Schmidt, Wylie Hart, Sofia Forti and Keegan Dolan. South takes on Windham on Monday.
LONDONDERRY 5, NASHUA NORTH 0
The Titans (0-9) gave the unbeaten Lancers all they could handle and came close to getting that elusive first goal of the season, while goalie Anya Seo had 30-plus saves.
Jordi Lopez (three), Kaitlyn Munroe, Anna Foley and Lauren O’Neil all had shots on goal as the Titans played the Lancers very tough in a scoreless first half. However, Londonderry (8-0) got four goals in the third quarter to take control.
North has a week off until it goes to Winnacunnet next Wednesday.

The Cards at Whip-Poor-Will got a pair of 36s by Chase Brisbebois and Owen Murphy, followed by a 38 from Aaron Ackerman , 40 by Maria Tribou, and 42 by Bennett Spotts.
