HS Roundup: North boys, girls soccer win; first golf victory for South

Thursday was a Nashua North soccer kind of day.

The Titans boys and girls soccer teams got wins, and there was a career milestone in the girls game. There’s other soccer news plus some golf results as a light day still has highlights:

GIRLS SOCCER

NASHUA NORTH 4, DOVER 1

Allison Frye scored three goals, including her 50th career goal, as the Titans improves to 4-1. Sarah Frye added a goal and an assist, while Amelia Seagle and Allie Dandeanau also had assists.

North hosts Londonderry this Tuesday.

PORTSMOUTH 7, ALVIRNE 1

The Broncos managed a goal by Celia Fain on a penalty kick but it wasn’t enough as they fell to 0-4-1. Abbie Kowalski had 18 saves in goal in the loss.

Alvirne hosts Bishop Guertin next Thursday.

KEENE 2, MILFORD 1

Jordyn Shaw got the lone goal for the Spartans, assisted by Maggie Pelletier, but the Spartans suffered their first loss of the year while it was the Blackbirds’ first win. Trinity Miner was solid with seven saves in the Milford goal.

Now 3-1-1, Milford has a long wait for its next game, not until Sept. 20 at Merrimack Valley.

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA NORTH 3, DOVER 0

Caleb Gelineau had two goals while Ousmane Bah Sy added one as the Titans improved to 2-3. Justin Ayotte had a clean sheet in the net.

North is at Londonderry on Tuesday.

SOUHEGAN 3, KENNETT 0

The Sabers are now 2-2 as Eric Davis had two unassisted goals while Evan Bernasconi scored, assisted by Ryan Stone.

Finnegan Daly had three saves for the shutout in goal.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1, JOHN STARK 1

Chris Ledger scored on an assist from John Constantine as the Cavs are now 1-2-2. Ian Sinclair stood out in goal with seven saves to preserve the tie.

HB hosts Kennett on Tuesday.

GOLF

NASHUS SOUTH THIRD IN QUAD MATCH

The Panthers totaled 209, ahead of fourth place Manchester Memorial (264) for their first win of the year (1-9). Exeter (193) was second and match winner was Dover (186) at Exeter Country Club.

Brendon Doughty led South with a 40, while Will McKenney and Grant Imbeault each had a 41. David Ramalho added a 43 while Jack Ninteau shot a 44 to help the Panthers.

South hopes to keep the momentum going at Pinkerton (Hoodkroft CC) in Derry.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE SECOND, MILFORD THIRD

Bow captured a tri-match at Overlook with a 201, while host Hollis Brookline was second at 218 and Milford third at 269.

Ben George had a 43 for HB while Jack Bastarache had a 40 to lead the Spartans. Match medalist was Bow’s Jake Gancarz with a 36.
