North’s Thomas, Smith, Neveu and BG’s Giardina shine at MOC

Nashua North’s Jhanelle Thomas did in Sunday’s Meet of Champions at Oyster River High School what she’s done all year – win, and win more than once. She captured the 100 hurdles in 14.78 seconds while fellow Titan Tiana Brown was fifth. Then she and Brown were one-two in the 300 hurdles in 45.63 seconds and 46.64 respectively to highlight a good day for local high school athletes.
North’s Rosalie Neveu captured the 800 in 2:17.7. The Titans’ Laura White was second in the 1600 in 5:05.20 and fifth in the 800.
The Titans (Sarah Frye, Brown, Allison Frye, Thomas) were fourth in the 4×100 relay and fifth (Charlotte Wilson, Allison Frye, Neveu, Thomas) in the 4×400 relay. Nashua North’s Sarah Frye was fifth in the triple jump
Nashua South’s Chloe Cruz was fourth in the discus while Natalee Thomas was sixth in the 200.
Alvirne was sixth in the 4×800 relay.
BOYS MEET
Nashua North’s Darius Smith capped off his in-state career with a win in the shot put in 55-8.25. And Bishop Guertin’s Matt Giardina, to no one’s surprise, won the 3200 in 9:14.16. Both athletes finished first in Division I in these events.
Teammate Noah Pasterczyk was fifth. Smith was fourth in the discus
North’s Luke Peters was sixth in the long jump. The Titans were fourth in the 4×100 relay (Mason Dandeneau, Luke Peters, Gavin Suchecki and Kobe Perry)
Milford’s foursome of Grant Skorupan, Chase Paiva, Will Whitley and Logan Korthals took second in the 4×800 relay in 8:12.85. Avery Wilson took second in the 100 (10.87) and 200 (21.55).
Spartan Kenyon Sora was fifth in the 400.Milford’s Ethan Morin was second in the high jump at 6-2. Grant Skorupan was sixth in the 800. Wilson, Skorupan, Whitley and Sora were sixth in the 4×400 relay.
Nashua South had a good day, third in all three relays.. Sawyer Penny as second in the javelin at 163-1.The Panthers’ 4×100 relay team of Leonel Lopez, Ryan Jansen, Tim Staveley and Marcell Perry took third in 42.71, a new school record.
South’s Preston Bois was third in the pole vault, and Raymon Karuru was sixth in the shot put. The Panthers’ 4×400 relay team of Sergio and Leonel Lopez, Ryan Jansen and Revin Olsen took third in 3:22.11 – another school record. Matthew Motherway, Ryan DuVarneyu, Daniel Byrne and Camdon Brien were third in 8:17.94 in the 4×800 relay.
Bishop Guertin’s Sam Woodward was sixth in the high jump, as was Carson Fischer in the 1600.
Souhegan’s Owen Pisinski was second in the pole vault (13-6). Hollis Brookline’s Sam Bruneau was fourth in the 100 and 200, while Brady McCammack was sixth in the 110 hurdles.
Alvirne’s Shawn Boudreau was third in the discus, while fellow Bronco Joey Marcotte took fourth in the 300 hurdles.
Merrimack was sixth in the 4×100 relay. Luca Kabel took fifth in the 200.
