And then there were two.

Just two local boys high school tennis teams remain in action, both in Division II.

The Hollis Brookline and Souhegan squads will compete in the semifinals on Monday, while unfortunately Bishop Guertin’s Division I season ended. Here’s how it all happened:

DIVISON I QUARTERFINALS

NO. 2 BEDFORD 8, NO. 7 BISHOP GUERTIN 1

The Cards played the Bulldogs a bit tougher than in the past but still fell short, managing just a 9-7 win at No. 2 singles by Evan Deyak.

Maxx Lizotte had the next highest games win total, falling 8-3 at No. 5.

Guertin wraps up an otherwise positive season at 9-7.

DIVISION II QUARTERS

NO. 3 HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6, NO. 6 LEBANON 3

The Cavs wrapped it up in singles taking five of the six matches from No.2 on down. Winners in ladder order were Ronan Finnegan (8-4), John Torpey (9-8, 7-4), Sam Anthony (8-1), Greyson McSeveney (8-0) and Dylan Legrow (8-0).

Finnegan/Eli Mazola won at No. 3 doubles, 8-0.

HB will now either head to take on No. 2 Winnacunnet on the road on Monday in the semis or host No. 7 Bow.

NO. 5 SOUHEGAN 6, NO. 4 PORTSMOUTH 3

The Sabers (10-5) are back in the semis for the first time in a few years, getting four singles wins then wrapping it up in doubles.

Singles winners were Nos. 1 through 4: Brian Goddard (8-1), Balthazar Glover (8-6), Parker Schade (8-0) and Patrick Bryson (8-2).

Goddard/Glover at No. 1 and Schade Bryson at No. 2 also won.

Souhegan now heads to take on No. 1 Goffstown on Monday.

TODAY’S GIRLS QUARTERS

Six local teams will be in action, with two at home.

Both Division I locals will be on the road. No. 6 Nashua North will be at No. 3 Hanover while No. 5 Bishop Guertin (10-4) will be at No. 4 Pinkerton. The Astros edged the Cards 5-4 just last weekend.

“This season has been an incredible journey,” Cards coach Marcel Gamache said. “This season is not just about the wins but about growth and camaraderie… The team has demonstrated resilience and teamwork.”

Souhegan (14-0) will host No. 9 Bow in the Division II quarterfinals at Camp Young Judea in Amherst while No. 7 Hollis Brookline (9-6) will head to take on No. 2, 13-1 Portsmouth.

Meanwhile, , No. 5 Merrimack will also head to the seacoast, taking on No. 4 Winnacunnet. No. 3 Alvirne (12-2) will host No. 6 Timberlane.
