HS Roundup: BG, Merrimack, Milford softball squads win

You can tell the high school spring regular season is winding down as the teams cram their last few games into a tight window. It was a full schedule on Wednesday, so let’s take a look:

SOFTBALL

WINNACUNNET 7, NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers (4-13) lose their sixth game in a row after surrendering five runs in the fourth. Nicki Gates played well in the field. Cate Marvin took the loss allowing seven runs on 14 hits and striking out five in seven innings. South hosts Manchester Central-Memorial on Thursday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 7, EXETER 5

The Cardinals (12-5) rebound after two straight losses with a win at home against the Blue Hawks. BG’s bats were alive as they gathered 12 hits. Sophie Bilodeau (three hits), Bella Nutting (hit, two RBIs), Gabby Gillette (two hits), Chloe Sellers (two hits) and Meara McDevitt (two hits) led the offense. Jenny Davey earned the win giving up five runs on seven hits and striking out seven. BG hosts Alvirne on Thursday.

MERRIMACK 21, NASHUA NORTH 0

Cam Bellen and Allie Wyand combined for a one hit shutout in the Tomahawks (13-4) dominant win over the Titans (0-18). Bayleigh Robichaud led the 13 hit attack with three hits, three RBIs and four runs scored. Lily Dionne, Bellen, Wyand, Marissa Nelson, Olivia Burke, Kat Lurhs, Brianna Noonan, Haley Breault and Ashlyn Simmons all had hits in the win. Merrimack hosts Salem on Thursday and North

MILFORD 20, HANOVER 10

Haley Harrington collected six RBIs as the Spartans (6-9) end their four game losing streak. Abby Walters had three hits and Chloe Pierson tallied her first varsity hit and added two RBIs. Mya Coombs gave up 10 runs on 11 hits with two strikeouts. Milford hosts Souhegan on Thursday.

BASEBALL

EXETER 8, BISHOP GUERTIN 2

The Cardinals drop to 11-8 with their loss to the Blue Hawks. Ben Geiger had two hits and a RBI and Gavin Santos had a hit with a RBI. BG hosts Alvirne on Thursday.

PINKERTON 11, ALVIRNE 2

The Broncos (3-14) committed three errors and seven runs in the first inning resulting in a tough day on the field. Kylar Cox grabbed his first varsity hit. Mikey Bebris (hit), Jameson Krueger (RBI), Brady Mitchell (hit, run), Memphis Beach (hit) and Gavin Baviello (run) played well in the loss. Alvirne visits Bishop Guertin on Thursday.

BOYS LACROSSE

PINKERTON 19, NASHUA NORTH 2

Dylan Noble was the only Titan (1-16) to find the back of the net in their loss to the Astros. Nick Wilkinson had an assist and Josh Parsons made 16 saves. North hosts Nashua South on Thursday.

MERRIMACK 9, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 4

Sean Anderson and Max Giles each collected three goals and two assists in the Tomahawks (11-6) final regular season game. Henry Tobin (goal, assist), Hudson Rousseau (assist), Peyton Connelly (two goals), Gabe Gorman (assist), Cayden Dine (assist) and Mason Tremblay (13 saves) played well for the locals. Logan Melendy, Gavin Hickey and Bret Vietry led the defensive unit.

KEARARGE 14, MILFORD 2

Rocco Bartling recorded 142 saves on the season after making 18 in Wednesday’s loss for the Spartans (1-13). Dylan McLeod and Mitch Broadhurst had a goal and an assist apiece.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 15, WINDHAM 9

Maren Lowell had a great game with six goals and an assist in the Panthers (13-4) fifth straight win. Others playing well were Karina O’Donnell (three goals, two assists), Saige Devins (three goals, assist), Carly Benzekri (two goals, assist), Addie Borden (goal), Lilee Petricca (three saves), Nevaeh Eppolito, Karina Santana, Lexi McGuire, Nitzann Alkalay and Maddie Langer. South visits Nashua North on Thursday.

SOUHEGAN 17, BEDFORD 12

Lanai Hickman tallied eight goals and three assists in the Sabers (10-3) big win over the Bulldogs. Libby Kennedy scored four goals, Abby Giannetti had two and Izzy Stevenson had three goals and three assists. Souhegan hosts Salem on Thursday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

DOVER 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

The Cavs (13-1) came up short 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 in a battle between one loss teams. Ethan Norris had 19 kills, Sam Hersey collected 25 assists and Tyler Wu led the defense. HB hosts Goffstown on Friday for Senior Night.
