HS ROUNDUP: Saber girls tennis, ‘Hawks girls lax stay unbeaten

Two of the biggest success stories of the spring are the Souhegan High School girls tennis and Merrimack girls lacrosse teams.

For them, it was a Fabulous Friday.

Here’s the rundown of the local results:

GIRLS TENNIS

NASHUA SOUTH 7, WINDHAM

The Panthers (6-4) picked up singles wins from Piya Chokski (8-3), Saanvi Praturu (8-2), Riya Shroff (8-3), Ananya Arun (8-2) and Soha Patel (8-2). Praturu/Shroff (8-5) and Arun/Patel (8-8, 7-5) had doubles wins. South visits Manchester Central on Saturday.

NASHUA NORTH 6, LONDONDERRY 3

The Titans (8-3) win their fourth straight match after visiting the Lancers. Mary Pappas (8-0), Brielle Baxter (8-2) and Gabi Desjardins (8-4) won in singles. Winning in doubles action were Pappas/Baxter (8-5), Desjardins/Mariana Cajigas (8-4) and Aleena Reth/Yelin Kim (8-6). North hosts Manchester Central on Monday.

SOUHEGAN 9, CONVAL 0

Callie Perrin (8-1), Tess Jancar (8-4), Caroline Drum (8-0), Sophia Yates (8-5), Emma Perrin (8-0) and Evalina Parashchak (8-0) won in singles. Callie Perrin/Emma Perrin (9-7), Drum/Jancar (8-0) and Yates/Parashchak (8-0) won in doubles. Souhegan (12-0) visits Milford on Monday.

BOYS TENNIS

SOUHEGAN 9, CONVAL 0

The Sabers blank ConVal on Friday afternoon. Brian Goddard (8-1), Parker Schade (8-0) and Patrick Bryson (8-0) won in singles. Goddard/Carpenter Berube (8-1) and Schade/Bryson (8-0) won in doubles. Souhegan won three matches by forfeit. Souhegan hosts Milford on Monday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7, MERRIMACK 2

Winning matches for the Cavs (10-1) were Arjun Inakollu (9-8,7-1), Ronan Finnegan (8-1), John Torpey (8-0), Samuel Anthony (8-0), Greyson McSeveney (8-3) and Dylan Legrow (8-3). Torpey/McSeveney (8-3) won in doubles. The Tomahawks (5-7) had wins from Leon Rossman/Jermey Nigen (7-3) and Connor Miner/Patrick MacIsaac (8-2). HB visits Goffstown on Saturday and Merrimack visits ConVal on Monday.

ALVIRNE 5, PLYMOUTH 4

Alvirne (5-8) singles winners were Sean Mendes (8-5), Owen Surprenant (8-5) and Christian Figueiredo (9-7). Sam Hergenhahn/Surprenant (8-4) and Mendes/Cole Fitzpatrick (8-6) won in doubles. Alvirne hosts Coe-Brown on Monday.

BASEBALL

PORTSMOUTH 14, ALVIRNE 5

Costly errors in the second inning and pitching were the Broncos (3-8) down fall against the Clippers. Mikey Bebris (hit, run), Jameson Krueger (two hits, two runs), Brady Mitchell (hit), Matty Bebris (two hits, RBI), Mikey McGowan (hit, RBI), PJ Millette (two hits, run, RBI), Alex Small (hit, run), Jaden Lewis (hit, two RBIs) and Charlie Crawford (hit) played well for the locals. Alvirne hosts Londonderry on Monday.

BOYS LACROSSE

CONCORD 13, NASHUA NORTH 6

Despite the loss the Titans (0-12) had great performances from Nico Bottari (three goals), Nick Wilkinson (two goals), Dylan Noble (two goals) and Josh Parsons (23 saves). North hosts Salem on Monday.

MERRIMACK 12, SOUHEGAN 4

Mac Giles collected five goals and one assist to lead the Tomahawks (9-5) past the Sabers (2-10). Henry Tobin tallied two goals and two assists and Peyton Connelly had a goal and three assists. Others contributing for Merrimack were Gabe Gorman (goal), Sean Anderson (goal), Hudson Rousseau (goal, assist), Cayden Dine (assist), Colby Smith (assist), Samarth Chandra (goal, first varsity goal) and Mason Tremblay (12 saves). Brendan Silva (goal), Matt Mullen (goal), Ayden McGrath (two goals) and Sean Reardon (21 saves) played well for Souhegan. Merrimack hosts Bedford and Souhegan visits Spaulding on Monday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

MERRIMACK 12, HANOVER 11

The Tomahawks (11-0) stay perfect on the season after a scare from Hanover. Ava Martin and Jackie Hayes (two assists, eight ground balls) each found the back of the net four times. Riley Taylor (two assists, 11 ground balls) and Payton Trepaney (three assists, two ground balls) finished the scoring with two goals apiece. Lyla Carls scooped up six ground balls and Sophia Richard made six saves. Merrimack hosts Spaulding on May 23.

EXETER 12, SOUHEGAN 11

The Sabers (6-3) win streak ends at three at the hands of the Blue Hawks. Libby Kennedy (four goals), Lanai Hickman (two goals), Abby Giannetti (goal), Izzy Stevenson (two goals, two assists, four ground balls), Averie Curran (goal, assist) and Emma Crisman (four saves) played well for the locals. Souhegan visits Windham on Monday.
