Finally the rain stopped and Monday they played games.
Yes, the local high school spring season was never more alive after a stretch of rainouts, reschedulings, etc. than it was on Monday with a full slate. Here’s the impact:
BASEBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 8, SPAULDING 7
The Cardinals (6-4) squeeze by Spaulding on the road. BG’s offense was led by Jordy Delude (two hits, two runs, two RBIs, two stolen bases) and Tyler Parks (hit, two sac flys, two RBIs). Cole Lancaster allowed seven hits and three earned runs in five innings. Ben Geiger got the save by striking out two and allowing no hits in one inning. BG hosts Winnacunnet on Tuesday.
NASHUA SOUTH 9, SALEM 2
Gus Smiley knocked out of the park and tallied three RBIs and stolen base in the Panthers (3-8) win. Max Demers pitched six innings and allowed one earned run on three hits and striking out seven. Demers also had three hits, scored a run and had a stolen base. South hosts Pinkerton on Tuesday.
ALVIRNE 4, MERRIMACK 1
The Broncos (2-7) beat the Tomahawks (2-8) to win their second game in a row. Leading the offense were Jaxson Polleck (hit, two RBIs), Matty Bebris (hit, RBI), Jameson Krueger (hit), Mikey Bebris (hit), Logan Orr (hit, run), Memphis Beach (hit, run), PJ Millette (hit, run, RBI) and Charlie Crawford (hit, run). Brady Mitchell got the win allowing four hits and striking out three in seven innings. Merrimack saw two hits from Danny Lavigne and a hit apiece from Jackson Woods and Kyle Brander. Evan Sousa gave up four runs on eight hits and struck out eight in seven innings. Alvirne hosts Spaulding on Wednesday and Merrimack visits Exeter on Tuesday.
CAMPBELL 2, SOMERSWORTH 1
Jack Curtis struck out five in four innings without allowing an earned run as the Cougars (5-2) edges Somersworth. Michael Grace pitched three scoreless innings and struck out six in relief. Grace got Campbell on the board with a solo home run in the first. Somersworth tied it in the second, but Campbell reclaimed the lead in the third when Noah Reed doubled to score the game’s final run. Braydon White and Reed each collected two hits, providing a spark at the top of the lineup. Campbell visits Derryfield on Wednesday.
OYSTER RIVER 12, MILFORD 2
The Spartans (1-5) lose their third straight contest on Monday. Will O’Connell got the lone hit for the locals. Liam Zahn and Gavin Szopa both score runs. Milford visits St. Thomas on Tuesday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 3, SPAULDING 1
Meara McDevitt (hit) recorded three RBIs in the Cardinals (9-2) win. Shayne Amico and Chloe Sellers tallied one hit apiece. Avery Zapanas gave up two hits and one run over three and one-third innings and struck out four. Jenny Davey pithed three and two-thirds innings in relief allowing two hits and zero runs, while striking out six. BG visits Winnacunnet on Tuesday.
OYSTER RIVER 9, MILFORD 0
The Spartans (4-4) lose their third straight game on Monday. Alivia Mazzeo started in the circle giving up eight run on five hits and striking out two. Haley Harrington gave up one run on one hit and struck out two in relief. Mya Coombs had two doubles and Stella Thiboudeau added one hit. Milford visits Laconia on Thursday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 17, SOUHEGAN 12
The Cavs (3-3) get by the Sabers (1-5) in a high scoring affair. Sarah Seddon had three singles, a double and triple to lead HB. Sophia Brickner tallied three hits. Jenna O’Connor, Ashley Disco, Olivia Chakarian and Emily Tebbetts each scored multiple runs. HB visits Laconia and Souhegan visits Oyster River on Tuesday.

NASHUA SOUTH 10, KEENE-MONADNOCK 5
Owen Roy and Broden Landsteiner (two assists) collected four goals apiece in the Panthers (5-5) second win in a row. Cody Jackson (goal, assist), Tyler Benzekri (goal, two assists), Grant Imbeault (assist), Brendan Skelley (assist) and Jake Lynn (nine saves) contributed for the locals. South visits Salem on Wednesday.
BEDFORD 20, NASHUA NORTH 5
Dylan Noble tallied a hat trick in the Titans (0-10) loss. Jared Gauthier and Andy Cullinane each scored a goal. Josh Parsons and Cooper Kotalakis saved 13 and six shots respectively. North hosts Hollis Brookline on Tuesday.

Camden Hayden (four goals, one assist) and Michael Ponto (three goals, assist) led the way for the Cardinals , who were up 13-1 at one point.
Others playing well were Hudson Schmitt (two goals, assist), Sean McGarry (two goals, assist), Owen King (two goals, assist), Jack Redfern (goal), Jonah Feliciano (eight saves) and Jordan LeClair (four saves). Paulo Vazquez and Samson San combined to win 20-24 faceoffs.

Max Giles scores four goals on Monday for the Tomahawks (8-4). Henry Tobin (three goals), Sean Anderson (three assists), Gabe Gorman (two assists), Hudson Rousseau (assist), Peyton Connelly (goal) and Mason Tremblay (10 saves) played well in the win. Merrimack visits Central Catholic (MA) on Wednesday.

SOUHEGAN 13, NASHUA SOUTH 12
The Sabers (6-2) outlast the Panthers (8-4) in a nail biter. South scored four goals with four minutes left to make it interesting, the final goal coming with about 15 seconds left.
Libby Kennedy (four goals), Izzy Stevenson (three goals, assist), Emmy Curran (three goals), Abby Giannetti (goal), Lanai Hickman (two goals, assist) and Emma Crisman (11 saves) led Souhegan. Crisman made a save with about five seconds left on South’s final attempt to tie, and then held on to the ball despite Panther pressure before calling time with three seconds left.
South had a great game from Carly Benzekri (four goals, assist), Maren Lowell (three goals, assist), Karina O’Donnell (three goals), Saige Devins (goal), Addie Borden (goal), Briley Landsteiner (assist) and Lilee Petricca (five saves). Souhegan hosts Exeter on Friday and South hosts Windham on Wednesday.
MERRIMACK 18, KINGSWOOD 7
Ava Martin (assist, three ground balls) found the back of the net seven times to lead the Tomahawks (9-0). Jackie Hayes (four assists, three ground balls) and Riley Taylor (nine ground balls) each had a hat trick. Lyla Carls (two goals, five ground balls) and Liv Mitchell (two goals, two ground balls), Ava Woods (goal, three ground balls), Summer Dalbec-Joyal (five ground balls) and Sophia Richard (seven saves) played well in the win. Merrimack visits Kennett on Wednesday.
