HS Roundup: Saber girls stay unbeaten; Merrimack lax win two

Rain? What rain? Some local high school teams were able to get games in, mainly in lacrosse, but don’t forget those who still play indoors, like the Hollis Brookline girls tennis team,which hosted powerful Souhegan at Longwood Tennis Club of Nashua and the HB boys volleyball team.
Otherwise, all diamond games were postponed to either Thursday or to next week; check your favorite school’s athletics website.
Here’s how everyone who played made out:
GIRLS TENNIS
SOUHEGAN 8, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1
The Sabers came back from their break picking right up where they left off to remain unbeaten in Division II. Singles winners were Callie Perrin (8-2), Ori Dart (8-1), Caroline Drum (8-0), Sophia Yates (8-0) and Emma Perrin (8-0).
The Sabers swept doubles: Perrin/Dart (8-2), Tess Jancar/Drum (8-2) and E. Perrin/Yates (8-0).
HB’s lone win came from Anna Heplik at No. 2 singles, 9-7.
GIRLS LACROSSE
PORTSMOUTH 16, NASHUA SOUTH 7
Maren Lowell had three goals while Saige Devins added a pair for the 6-3 Panthers. Wylie Hart (goal, assist) and Addie Borden (goal) also tried to keep South in it. Lilee Petricca had six saves for the Panthers, who face rival Nashua North at Stellos Stadium on Wednesday.
MERRIMACK 19, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 2
Jackie Hayes and Riley Taylor led the unbeaten (6-0) Tomahawks with four goals apiece while Payton Trepaney, Lyla Caris and Ava Woods each had two. Single goals were by Lexi Bell, Syd Capen, Avery Gauthier, Bree Hilyard and Brooklyn Hilyard.
Assists were by Bell (2) and singles from Hayes, Trepaney and Carls. Sophia Richard had four saves in goal.
SOUHEGAN 17, MANCHESTER CENTRAL-WEST 2
Libby Kennedy led the Sabers with five goals and five draw controls, while Izzy Stevenson (four goals, three assists, eight draws), Emmie Curan (two goals, two draws), Averie Curran (two goals), Abby Giannetti (goal, two assists), Lanai Hickman (goal), Nat Heimarck (one assist, two caused turnovers, two ground balls, two draws), Meredith Heimarck (goal, two assists), Sophie Jacobs (two caused turnovers, one ground ball), Haley Christiansen (goal), and Natalie Bryan (ground ball) all contributed. Emma Crisman had one save for the Sabers (4-2) who host Dover Wednesday.
BOYS LACROSSE
MERRIMACK 8, GOFFSTOWN 1
The 6-3 Tomahawks are playing well right now, having outscored their last two opponents by a 16-1 margin.
Max Giles had two goals and two assists while single goals were by Peyton Connelly, Sean Anderson, Cayden Dine and Bret Vietry (first varsity).
Mason Tremblay had seven saves for the ‘Hawks, who are at Exeter on Wednesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 15, HANOVER 4
J.P. Torgersen led HB (6-2) with two goals and five assists while Sam Petrella also had a goal and four assits as the two combined for 12 points.
Others contributing were Mike O’Hearn (three goals), Bennett Torgersen (four goals, assist (Colin Magnuszewski (goal), Noah Taylor (two goals, assist) Vittorio Masoni (two goals, assist).
Levi Mitchell had eight saves while Mason Acheson won 14 faceoffs and Patrick Masoni had five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, TIMBERLANE 1
The Cavs recovered from dropping the first set 25-14 to win the next three, 25-15, 25-14, 25-21.
Ethan Norris had 13 kills and three aces while Alex Howe had 11 service points and four kills. Mateo Moret (eight kills, 12 points) and Tyler Wu (defense) also helped out.
Now 6-0, the three-time defending champion Cavs are at Pinkerton on Wednesday.
