HS Roundup: Cards pick up big win at Keene; Alvirne bows

Ah, those lazy hazy vaca days. It was another slow high school sports day with schools on April break, but now we’re into May and things will soon pick up. But they certainly picked up for Bishop Guertin baseball, which got a much-needed win on Wednesday:
BASEBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 3, KEENE 2
The Cardinals improve to 4-3 as they leave Keene with a win. BG was led offensively by Nick Wyner (two hits, double, RBI), Liam Ireland (two hits, double, run, stolen base) and Nate Brown (two hits, RBI). AJ Holmes started the game allowing one earned on two hits and six strikeouts over six innings. Ben Geiger (two hits, double) picked up the win throwing three innings, giving up one hit and striking out three. BG hosts Windham on Friday.
SALEM 11, ALVIRNE 1
The Broncos (0-7) continue to find their first win of the season after a road loss to the Blue Devils. A highlight for the locals was Matty Bebris hitting his first varsity homerun. Jameson Krueger added the second hit in the box score. Alvirne hosts Keene on Monday.
SOFTBALL
WINDHAM 11, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Panthers (2-5) were shutout in their visit to the Jaguars on Wednesday. Brooke Berger led South with two hits. Cate Marvin gave up 11 runs on 13 hits over six innings and striking out one. South hosts Portsmouth on Friday.
BOYS LACROSSE
WINDHAM 13, NASHUA NORTH 4
Dylan Noble netted a hat trick in the Titans (0-7) loss. David Javier Theriault-Lago tallied an assist and Josh Parsons made 16 saves in net. North visits Windham on Monday.
