HS Roundup: Titans edge Alvirne, Sabers now 4-0, South lax teams win

Vacation week? What vacation week? Local high school teams are at it full throttle, as Monday showed. Only tennis takes the week off, and a lot of local teams are glad they’re playing. Read on to find out why:
BASEBALL
NASHUA NORTH 2, ALVIRNE 1
Owen Forcier struck out 14 and allowed six hits in seven innings as the Titans (2-5) end their five-game losing streak against the Broncos (0-6). Austin Suchecki hit the go-ahead RBI with a double in the top of the ninth. Jayden Beaulieu and Ty Byrne each picked up hits for North. PJ Millette grabbed his first varsity hit when he hit one over the fence. Jameson Krueger, Brady Mitchell and Logan Orr each had one hit. Mikey Bebris pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits, one run and striking out five. North hosts Concord on Tuesday and Alvirne visits Salem on Wednesday.
SALEM 9, BISHOP GUERTIN 6
The Cardinals stand at an even 3-3 record after a home loss to the Blue Devils. Jordy Delude (double, run, two RBIs, stolen base), Josh Wilson (hit, run, two RBIs, stolen base) and Ben Geiger (two hits, run, RBI) led offensively. Sam Prescott and Brian Webb combined to pitch four and two-thirds innings allowing four hits and three unearned runs in relief. BG visits Keene on Wednesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, CONVAL 1
The Cavs tallied 15 hits and pulled away late to improve to 6-0. Dylan Morelli led the team with three hits. Matt Bergin, Tyler Gryniewicz and Connor Gryniewicz collected two hits apiece. HB also showed off their speed by securing 10 stolen bases. Morelli picked up the win giving up one run on six hits, while striking out nine in six innings. He would also pass the 100 strikeout mark in his career with a total that currently stands at 102. HB hosts Souhegan on May 5.
SOUHEGAN 5, COE-BROWN 0
Ethan Gaudet strikes out six in five innings giving up three hits in the Sabers (4-0) win on Monday. Leading the locals were Drew Reagan (hit, run), Matt Silk (two hits, run, RBI, stolen base), Brayden Hickman (run, stolen base), Cam Brown (hit, run), Joe Mayo (run) and Blake Powers (sac fly RBI). Souhegan hosts St. Thomas on Tuesday.
SOFTBALL
BISHOP GUERTIN 4, SALEM 2
The Cardinals improve to 5-0 after their win on Monday. Sophie Bilodeau (two hits, RBI), Bella Nutting (hit), Garbriella Gillette (hit, run), Meara McDevitt (two hits, two runs, RBI), Chloe Sellers (hit, RBI) and Jenny Davey (hit, run) starred on the offensive side. Avery Zapanas allowed four hits and two runs while striking out one in four innings. BG hosts Keene on Wednesday.
BOYS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 7, SALEM 6
Grant Imbeault (assist) and Grayson Flaherty each found the back of the net twice in the Panthers’ (3-3) win over the Blue Devils. Brenden Skelley (goal, assist), Broden Landsteiner (two assists), Tyler Benzekri (goal, five ground balls), Cody Jackson (goal, assist) and Jake Lynn (seven saves) contributed for the locals. South hosts Pinkerton on Wednesday.
EXETER 20, NASHUA NORTH 1
The Titans (0-6) are still looking for their first win of the season after visiting the Blue Hawks. Nico Bottari scored on an assist from Dylan Noble. Josh Parsons made 13 saves. North hosts Windham on Wednesday.
LONDONDERRY 9, MERRIMACK 8
The Tomahawks fall just short of the Lancers moving their record to 4-3. Henry Tobin and Hudson Rousseau (assist) scored two goals apiece. Gavin Hickey, Gabe Gorman (assist), Cayden Dine, and Sean Anderson each tallied one goal. Max Giles dished out three assists and Mason Tremblay made eight saves in net. Merrimack travels to Nashua South on Friday.
CONCORD 12, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 11 (2OT)
The Cavs (4-1) went to double overtime and fell short in their trip to Concord. JP Torgersen collected four goals and an assist for HB. Noah Taylor tallied three goals and an assist, while Mike O’Hearn (four assists) and Bennett Torgersen each score twice. Luke Kinney made 11 saves. HB visits Londonderry on Friday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
NASHUA SOUTH 17, SALEM 7
Karina O’Donnell scored four goals, including the 100th in her career in the Panthers (5-1) dominant win over the Blue Devils. Leading the way were Mare Lowell with six goals and an assist, Carly Benzekri added four goals and Addie Borden had three goals and two assists. Briley Landsteiner tallied an assist and Lilee Petricca had four saves. South hosts Derryfield on Tuesday.
PINKERTON 9, SOUHEGAN 8
The Sabers drop to 3-2 after a loss to the Astros in Derry. Libby Kennedy collected four goals and four ground balls to lead Souhegan. Izzy Stevenson (two goals, two assists), Emmie Curran (goal), Averie Curran (goal, assist), Abby Giannetti (two assists) and Emma Crisman (three saves) played well in the loss. Souhegan hosts Manchester Central-West on Monday.
