HS Roundup: Tough day for most locals but track teams shine

The sunny, warm weather returned on Tuesday, but there weren’t a ton of local wins to go with it on the field, but a couple on the track.
Here’s a look at a tepid Tuesday:
GIRLS LACROSSE
WINDHAM 6, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5
Sabrina Hill had three goals and an assist but it wasn’t enough as the Cavs fell to old Division II rival Windham, now in Division I.
Nyah Jernberg had a goal while Sam Smith had a goal and an assist.
The Cavs, now 0-4, will try for their first win at Kingswood today.
CONVAL 9, ALVIRNE 5
Cadence Bice had four goals while Audrienna Chipperini had a goal for the Broncos, now 0-4 despite playing in their closest game of the young season. Fiona Duggan had 22 saves in goal with help from a tough defense.
Alvirne visits Spaulding today.
BASEBALL
EXETER 13, NASHUA NORTH 5
Things didn’t go the Titans’ way at Holman Stadium as they dropped their third straight.
Dawson Bolton and Owen Forcier led the North offense with two hits apiece.
North (1-3) is at Dover today.
SOFTBALL
MERRIMACK 6, WINNACUNNET 5
Marissa Nelson allowed just one earned run whle striking out seven as the Tomahawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead then held on.
Nelson had two hits and three RBIs while Cam Bellen and Lily Dionne each had two hits. Savanah Hansen And Katie Coolidge each had a hit.
Merrimack takes on Londonderry today at home.
BOYS TENNIS
DOVER 8, NASHUA NORTH 1
Jeet Ponchal got the lone win for the Titans at No. 5 singles, 8-6. The 3-2 Titans next host Keene on Friday in the second of four straight home matches.
PORTSMOUTH 8, MERRIMACK 1
The Tomahawks managed just one win, that by Leon Rossman at No. 2 singles, 8-1.
Now 3-2, the Tomahawks will be at Plymouth on Wednesday.
WINNACUNNET 5, SOUHEGN 4
The Sabers split singles but managed just one doubles win. Singles winners were No. 3 Parker Schade (8-0), No. 4 Patrick Bryson (8-4) and No. 5 Carpenter Berube (8-2).
Schade/Bryson won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6. Souhegan hosts Oyster River on Thursday.
BOYS & GIRLS TRACK
NORTH BOYS WIN, GIRLS SECOND
The Titan boys got 87 points to beat Merrimack (47.5) and Keene(43.5), while the girls (59) were second behind Keene (77) while Merrimack was third with 42 points.
In the boys meet for North, Mason Dandeneau won the 100 in 11.48 seconds; Aaron McNair won the 200 in 23.49. North’s Gavin Suchecki took the 300 hurdles in 42.20 and the high jump at 6-1.
Titan Chris Holland took the pole vault at 9-6 while Darius Smith won the shot ut at 53-6.25 and discus at 149-6. North’s Lewis Mazerolle won the javelin with a toss of 133-1.
Merrimack’s Luca Kabel won the 400 in 52.60, and took the long jump at 20-8.5 and Jordan Sugianto took the 800 n 2:10.71. Merrimack’s William Farrell, Kabel, Austin Cassetty and Stephen Doyle teamed up for a win in the 4×100 relay in 45.13 while North’s Suchecki, Dandeneau, McNair and Yaxiel Vazquez won the 4×400 relay in 3:40.17.
In the girls meet, North’s Tiana Brown won the 100 (12.77), Jhanelle Thomas the 200 (26.20) as well as the 100 hurdles (14.82), Allison Frye the 400 (1:02.46), Charlotte Wilson the 300 hurdles (52.01).

For Merrimack, Melanie Bedard won the 1600 in 5:38.27 and was part of the winning 4×400 relay along with Serenah Wright, Megan McWhirter, and Kaylin Amoo in 4:24.32. Cassandra Jimeno won the high jump at 4-9 and Lily Anderson the shot put at 31-9.5
NASHUA SOUTH BOYS FIRST,GIRLS SECOND
The Nashua South boys (88 points) topped Portsmouth (61) and Salem (27) while the Panther girls (67) were second behind Portsmouth (89) but ahead of Salem (24).
South winners included Leonel Lopez in the 100 (11.34) and 200 (23.00),
Lopez, Ryan Jansen, Marcell Perry and Tim Staveley won the 4×100 relay in 44.70 while Matthew Motherway, Jansen, Revin Olsen and Cam Brien won the 4×400 in 3:30.73.
Preston Bois won the pole vault (11-6),Ray Karuru the shot put (43-6), Liam Gallagher the discus (110-10) and Sawyer Perry the javelin (163-7).
As for the Panther girls, Natalee Thomas won the 200 (26.50), Sarah Witta the 300 hurdles (49.95), Alejandra Chavarain the long jump (14-10) and Chloe Cruz the discus (97-8).
