HS Roundup: Sabers open with win; South nines fall

Spring has definitely sprung with the weather and the local high school sports season as yesterday was the first full Friday of the 2025 campaign with some pretty solid results. Here’s a look:
BASEBALL
DOVER 11, NASHUA SOUTH 8
The Panthers (0-2) were sent home from Dover with a loss on Friday. Kosay Tanaka (two hits), Jack Ninteau (two hits, RBI), Aiden O’Connor (hit, two RBIs) and Adam Murray (hit, two RBIs) played well at the plate.
South hosts Bishop Guertin on Monday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 10, MERRIMACK VALLEY 4
Ian Sinclair struck out 16 batters and allowed one hit and four runs over six innings in a strong performance on Friday for the Cavs (3-0). Keenan Myers (four hits, three RBIs), Tyler Gryniewicz (three hits, RBI), Matthew Bergin (two RBIs) and Paul Gehan (RBI) led the offense. HB also showed off their speed stealing eight bases.
HB visits Milford on Monday.
SOUHEGAN 15, PEMBROKE 2
The Sabers start the season with a decisive win over Pembroke. Alex Trudel pitched five and two-thirds innings, allowing two hits and two runs and struck out eight. Trudel also had three hits, two runs and three RBIs at the plate.
Others playing well offensively were Drew Reagan (three hits, three runs, four RBIs, three doubles), Matt Silk (two hits, three RBIs), Brayden Hickman (two hits), Joe Mayo (three hits, two runs) and Max Hayes (hit, two runs, two RBIs). Souhegan visits Kingswood on Monday.
CAMPBELL 7, CONANT 2
The Cougars improve to 2-0 after their win on the road. Luke Delia collected two hits and two RBIs, Braydon White chipped in with a hit and two RBIs, Mikey Grace had three hits; while Brady Marcotte and Jack Curtis had two hits apiece. Delia tossed a complete game, allowing six hits, two earned runs, striking out five and walking four. Campbell visits Hopkinton on Monday.
SOFTBALL
DOVER 14, NASHUA SOUTH 9
The Panthers (1-2) falter in their home opener on Friday. Cara Leblond hit an inside the park home run in the bottom of the first and finished with two hits and three runs. Maliyah Richer-Valentin matched her teammate with two hits and three runs of her own. Cate Marvin took the loss pitching seven innings, allowing 14 runs on 16 hits and striking out two. South visits Bishop Guertin on Monday.
MILFORD 3, KENNETT 1
Alivia Mazzeo had another great night in the circle allowing one hit and one run, while striking out seven and walking one in the Spartans (3-0) win. Arabelle Danforth, Mazzeo, Teagan Goldstein and Haley Harrington each had one hit. Harrington and Mya Coombs each added a RBI. Milford hosts Hollis Brookline on Monday.
MERRIMACK 3, SPAULDING 2
The Tomahawks defeat Spaulding with a walk off in 11 innings. Lily Dionne pitched all 11 innings and had a key hit to tie the game in the seventh inning, while striking out nine. Bayleigh Robichaud reached base four times with Ashley Senecal, Julia Hoag and Allie Wyand grabbing hits. Merrimack visits Winnacunnet on Monday.
BOYS LACROSSE
DOVER 14, NASHUA NORTH 4
The Titans fall to Dover in their first road contest of the season. Dylan Noble scored three goals and Josh Parsons made 11 saves. North visits Londonderry on Monday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 13, PEMBROKE 4
The Cavs (2-0) grabbed an early season road win on Friday. Sam Petrella, Mike O’Hearn, Bennett Torgersen, Colin Magnuszewski, Luke Kinney, JP Torgersen and Noah Taylor all scored goals. Levi Mitchell collected seven saves. HB hosts Nashua South on Tuesday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
SOUHEGAN 19, SALEM 5
Libby Kennedy (seven goals, assist) and Izzy Stevenson (six goals, assist, three ground balls) led the Sabers (2-0) in their dominant win. Lanai Hickman (two goals, two assists), Abby Giannetti (four goals, five assists), Natalie Heimarck (two assists, three ground balls) and Emma Crisman (four saves) played well for the locals. Souhegan visits Portsmouth on Monday.
MERRIMACK 24, ALVIRNE 3
As many as 13 players scored for the Tomahawks, led by four goals each by Payton Trepaney and Riley Tayler. Brookllynn Hilyard and Ava Martin had three apiece, while Jackie Hayes added a pair. Single goals were by Lexi Bel, Lyla Carls, Summer Dalbec-Joyal, Liv Mitchell, Natalia Williams, Avery Gauthier, Ava Woods, Syd Capen. Sophia Richard had five saves in goal for the Tomahawks.
The Broncos goals were by Renee Durkee, Audriena Chipperini and Cadence Bice.
BOYS TENNIS
NASHUA SOUTH 6, CONCORD 3
The Panthers improved to 2-1 as they took five of six singles, with wins by Shrey Shah (8-6), Nikhil Shokeen (8-3), Raghav Buddhineni (8-5), Jerry Primo (9-7), and Vihaan Shah (9-7).
Shrey Shah/Shokeen won at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6, PORTSMOUTH 3
The Cavaliers just keep winning, and they took five of six singles matches to get an early clincher against the visiting Clippers. Greyson McSeveney (8-2), Ronan Finnegan (8-0), Sam Anthony (8-3), Dylan Legrow (8-2) and Eli Mazzola (8-5) all won from Nos. 2 on down. John Torpey/McSeveney won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.
ALVIRNE 8, KINGSWOOD 1
The Broncos swept singles with wins by Sam K. (9-7), Sam Hergenhahn, Sean Mendes (8-0), Owen Surprenant (8-1), Cole Fitzpatrick (8-0), Samanyu Kudikala (9-7) and Christian Figueredo (8-1).
Hergenhahn/Superenant (8-1) and Mendes/Fitzpatrick (8-0) won in doubles for the Broncos, now 3-3.
GIRLS TENNIS
NASHUA SOUTH 5, CONCORD 4
The Panthers took five of six singles to get the win. Triumphs were by Piya Chokshi (8-6), Krina Dani (8-4), Saanvi Praturu (8-4), Riya Shroff (8-4) and Soha Patel (8-2).
NASHUA NORTH 9,MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 0
The Titans won convincingly in all their matches. Mary Pappas and Brielle Baxter won 8-0, Mariana Cajigas (8-1), Gabi Desjardins (8-2), Aleena Reth (8-1) and Grace Desrosiers (8-3) all breezed.
In doubles, it was Pappas/Baxter 8-0, Cajigas/Desjardins and Reth/Desrosiers by 8-3 counts.
SOUHEGAN 8, BOW 1
The Sabers took five of six singles to clinch before doubles with wins coming one through five by Callie Perrin (8-0), Tess Jancar (8-0), Ori Dart (8-0), Emma Perrin and Callie Hycuna (8-3).
Perrin/Dart (8-0) set the tone for the doubles sweep.
PORTSMOUTH 9, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0
The Cavaliers couldn’t break through against the Clippers, losing two close doubles matches, including a tiebreaker loss by Anna Heiplik/Max Walsh, plus Heiplik lost an epic battle at No. 2 singles 9-7.
