It wasn’t the only game in town, of course, but Wednesday’s Nashua South girls lacrosse romp over Salem felt like it, as it was not only the re-opening of Stellos Stadium but also saw Panther Maren Lowell score her 100th career goal.

“It was good, it was really exciting,” Lowell said. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates.”

“Just so happy for her,” South coach Ciki McIntire said. “She’s had a rough stretch with concussions and injuries. So for her to have 100 when she hasn’t had a complete season, this early in her senior year, is pretty exciting.”

It was also a good day for South softball, which captured its first win of the season. That, more lacrosse, tennis, and baseball – tough one for Nashua city teams as they went 0 for 3 – await your reading eyes:

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 19, SALEM 7

Lowell had six goals for the Panthers, plus eight draw controls. Saige Devins and Addie Borden each had three goals while Karina O’Donnell (four draw controls), Wylie Hart and Carly Benzekri each had two goals and an assist.Nevaeh Eppolitto had a buzzer beater goal (end of first quarter), plus two ground ball pickups and two caused turnovers.

Lilee Petricca and Emma Herlihy split time in goal, combining for three saves. Playing well defensively for South were Lexi McGuire, Karina Santana, Nitzann Alkalay and Maddie Langer.

“They did a lot of good things out there,” McIntire said. “It’s a work in progress and we’re getting better every day.”

MERRIMACK 12, GOFFSTOWN 10

Riley Taylor scored half of the Tomahawks goals along with four ground ball pickups and 14 draw controls, while Jackie Hayes had a five-point game (three goals, two assists). Ava Martin added two goals and 12 draw controls, while Payton Trepaney had a goal, assists, and three draws.

Annabelle Cassetty had seven saves in goal for the ‘Hawks.

HANOVER 16, ALVIRNE 4

Cadence Bice had three goals to lead the Broncos, while Olivia Baptista had a goal. Fiona Duggun nine saves in the Alvirne goal, with defensive help from Nile Camacho.

BOYS LACROSSE

WINDHAM 10, NASHUA SOUTH 1

Grant Imbeault scored the 1-1 Panthers’ lone goal, assisted by Broden Landsteiner. Tyler Benzeki had eight ground ball pickups with six caused turnovers. Jake Lynn had nine saves in goal for South.

MERRIMACK 4, CHELMSFORD 3

Max Giles scored the eventual game-winner in the fourth quarter off a pass from Henry Tobin as the ‘Hawk moved to 2-0 on the young season.

Sean Anderson, Hudson Rousseau and Gabe Gorman each had a goal while Giles added an assist along with Tobin’s.

Mason Tremblay was busy in the Merrimack goal with 16 saves. The Tomahawks host Pinkerton today at 4:30 p.m.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 9, MERRIMACK VALLEY 6

The Cavs were led by Noah Taylor (four goals, two assists) and J.P. Torgersen (goal, assist). Sophomores Mike O’Hearn and Bennett Torgersen each had two goals and two assists, while Sam Petrella p;icked up two assists and Colin Magnuszewski had an assist.

Levi Mitchell had 12 saves in the HB goal.

PORTSMOUTH 11,SOUHEGAN 3

Jared Kershaw, Ayden McGrath, and Dylan scored for the Sabers while Sean Reardon had an assist from his goalie position. He had 13 saves.

PLYMOUTH 14, MILFORD 1

Rocco Bartling had seven saves over three periods for the Spartans (0-2) while their lone goal was by Braeden Orien, unassisted.

SOFTBALL

NASHUA SOUTH 6, EXETER 3

The Panthers recorded their first win of the season (1-1) thanks to 11 hits and a four-run fifth with Cara Leblond’s two-run triple and RBI doubles by Cate Marvin and Nicki Gates.

Brooke Berger paced the offense overall with three hits while Gates had a pair. Marvin got the win in the circle, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits over seven, fanning seven and walking four.

South will try to make it two straight on Friday, hosting Dover.

MILFORD 13 PELHAM 4

Milford put up 16 hits while Molly Miles, Nadia Dutton, Teagan Goldstein, Mya Coombs and Haley Harrington had two hits each. Alivia Mazzeo struck out 13 while allowing seven hits over seven innings.

BASEBALL

TRINITY 10, BISHOP GUERTIN 9 (8 innings)

The Cards fell short despite starter Ben Geiger allowing just one earned run over four innings with four strikeouts; only four of the Pioneer runs were earned.

BG was led offensively by Liam Ireland (2 for 5, two runs, RBI), Nick Wyner (3 for 3, run, two RBIs), Tyler Parks (2 for 4, two RBIs, stolen base), and Jordy Delude (2 for 2, three runs, RBI, stolen base).

EXETER 5, NASHUA SOUTH 2

The Panthers came up short in their season opener at Holman Stadium despite Kosay Tanaka’s double and three strikeouts over three innings. Leo DePaolo had an RBI while Collin Kochanek had a hit and three walks, reaching base four times.

South visits Dover on Friday.

MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 8, NASHUA NORTH 4

James Markley paced the Titan offense going 2 for 3 with an RBI. Austin Suchecki, Owen Forcier, Mario Ramirez and Ryan Garon all had a hit as well.

Now 1-1, North is at Pinkerton on Friday.

CONCORD 3, ALVIRNE 2

The Tide got the walk off win in the bottom of the seventh thanks to two walks and two wild pitches. Brady Mitchell pitched well for Alvirne, while Charlie Crawford led the Broncos (0-2) with two hits. Alvirne hosts Trinity today.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 12, KENNETT 8

The Cavs enjoyed a 12 hit attack, led by Tyler Gryniewics (three hits, including two doubles). Paul Gehan had two hits while tossing three hitless innings with six strikeouts. Connor Gryniewicz had two hits while Keenan Myers, Dylan and Jordan Morelli and Reno Bergskaug all had a hit. The Cavs enjoyed a six-run fourth, which they needed as Kennett stormed back.

Connor Gryniewicz (strikeout) and Ian Sinclair (four strikeouts to close things out) also pitched well. HB hosts Merrimack Valley on Friday.

BOYS TENNIS

SOUHEGAN 6, ALVIRNE 3

The Sabers took the top four of six singles over their new local Division II rivals,starting with Brian Goddard at No. 1 (8-3), Balthazar Glover (8-6), Patrick Bryson (9-7), and Carpenter Berube (8-5) winning. Goddard/Glover (9-8, 7-2) and Bryson Berube (8-2) clinched the win in doubles.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7, PLYMOUTH 2

The Cavaliers stayed unbeaten (4-0) despite cold conditions and missing No. 1 Arjun Inakollu (Robotics competition in Houston). John Torpey moved up to No. 1 and got an 8-6 win as the Cavs took five of six singles. Other winners were Greyson McSeveney (8-3), Ronan Finnegan (8-0), Samuel Anthony (8-1), and Eli Mazzola (8-3).

Torpey/McSeveney (8-3) and Mazzola/Pistor (8-5) prevailed in doubles for the Cavs.

MERRIMACK 5, BOW 4

After splitting singles, the Tomahawks took two of three doubles to bounce back from their first loss of the season.

The duos of Mikhail Agapov/Leon Rossman and Wayne Alexander/Lucas Goldberg triumphed 8-4 and 8-2, respectively.

Singles winners for the ‘Hawks were from Nos. 4 through 6: Nithin Sathappan (8-1), Alexander (8-2) and Goldberg (8-4).

PINKERTON 5, NASHUA SOUTH 4

The Panthers got their wins from Shrey Shraley at No. 1 singles, as well as No. 2 Nikhil Shakeen, No. 4 Jerry Primo and No. 6 Vihaan Shah.

GIRLS TENNIS

PINKERTON 6, NASHUA SOUTH 3

Saanvi Praturu picked up the Panthers’ lone singles win at No. 3, 8-3. South took two of three doubles with Krini Dani/Hannah Jacobs and Riya Shroff/Ananya Arun each winning 9-7.

SOUHEGAN 9, ALVIRNE 0

The unbeaten Sabers continued their march through Division II, with winners being in singles Callie Perrin (8-0), Tess Jancar (8-0), Ori Dart (8-1), Caroline Drum (8-1), Sophia Yates (8-0) and Emma Perrin (8-1). Perrin/Dart (8-0), Drum/Jancar (8-3) and Yates/E. Perrin (8-1) swept through doubles. The Alvirne tandem of Zailyn O’Leary and Lilanna Belmore did manage the most wins for the Broncos (3) at No. 2 doubles.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6, PLYMOUTH 3

The Cavs swept doubles to pick up the win after splitting singles with wins by Anna Heiplik (8-2) and Brynn Spencer (8-2).

Heiplik/Porto (8-2), Max Walsh/Carly Holt (8-3) set the pace for the doubles sweep.

BOYS TRACK

MILFORD SECOND, HB FOURTH

Winners for the Spartans (60 points) in a meet won by Pelham (80) included Avery Wilson in the 100 meters (11.06), Joshua Pettingell in the 200 (23.28), Grant Skorupan in the 1600 (4:50.70), the 4×400 relay team (3.40.46), Ethan Morin in the high jump (5-10) and John Masiello in the pole vault (8-0, lone competitor).

HB’s Sam Bruneau was second in the 100 (11.14). The Cavs had 23 points.

GIRLS TRACK

HB FIRST, MILFORD SECOND

The Cavs edged the Spartans 74-70 while Pelham was third (63) and ConVal fourth (23).

HB wins were by Margaret Noble in the 100 (13.22), Grace Dow in the 200 (27.42) and the 100 hurdles (15.85), the long jump (15-2) Julianne Bergquist in the pole vault (6-6),

For Milford, Rylee Coates captured the 400 (1:05.58), Jaylyn Paul the 1600 (5:46.60), Katherine Demmons in the triple jump (28-11), and Trinity Milner in the javelin (72-10).

The Spartans also took both relays.
