STARS ON ICE: Locals make All-State Boys Hockey team

It was a productive high school boys hockey season locally with two teams, Bishop Guertin and Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield making the finals in Division I and II, respectively.

As for New Hampshire Legends of Hockey sponored All-State teams, selected by the coaches, there were a few locals honored in all three divisions.

Only three local players in Division I made the team, all from Bishop Guertin: Second Teamers forward James Mantone, and goaltender Luke Bettencourt, and Honorable Mention defenseman Mike Ponto, all seniors.

In Division II, Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield senior defenseman Caleb May made Second Team, while local Honorable Mentions were Alvirne-Milford senior forward Braydon Atwood and MHBDS goalie James Brew.

Finally, in Division III, two Campbell players from Pembroke-Campbell made the team: Second Teamer senior forward Brady Gerardi and Honorable Mention senior defenseman Noah Reed.

This Sunday the Legends Of Hockey will sponsor the 11th Annual the Boys High School Senior All-Star Showcase at The Rinks at 2:30 p.m.

The game includes senior players from Division I, II and III as chosen by the Head Coaches, divided into four teams with 28 total players for Division I, 20 for Division II and 14 for Division III.

Players from this Showcase will be selected to play in the 33rd Annual Boys & 28th Annual Girls NH/VT All-Star Hockey Classic benefiting Make-A-Wish Vermont and Make-A-Wish New Hampshire at the Gutterson Field House at the University of Vermont on June 28, time to be determined.
